Joy is . It bubbles up from within. Little morsels of joy sprouting up everywhere, beckoning us to feel. Feel more deeply feel more alive. Feel the ins and outs of our breath and the rays of sun on our faces. Joy is found in moments, often fleeting. Softening and expanding our hearts. And seeping into our bones, and the very fiber of our beingness.

It is a wellspring, abundant. Never ending. Found in even the darkest times. Joy builds capacity. Capacity to also feel the darkness, to be with the pain in the world. We need joy, for these are dark times. We’ve chosen to numb, to turn away. When we numb, when we distract or freeze - we numb our connection to not only joy but our divinity and humanity. It’s always there, it’s our hearts we hold captive.

Its time to wake up. To open our hearts and invite joy to bubble forth. But how? Get still, slow down, see with clear eyes, witness it, name it, speak deep gratitude for it, feel it nudging our hearts to open wide. These tiny acts tend to joy, growing our capacity, allowing the tiny morsels to nourish our souls.

Joy dances twirls giggles and gurgles. Beckoning us to live. To live eyes and hearts wide open. Theres no earning it, or being worthy of it, for we are all worthy simply by being. Joy is our birthright.

Spent the morning cooking some of the last of this years offerings. Tomatoes, tomatillos, roasted chilies became sauce and salsas. It soothes my spirit to pour my love into foods to nourish family and friends.
