Summer camp is an incredible place for kids with speech or language challenges to build confidence, improve communication, and strengthen friendships. A little prep goes a long way. Here are some helpful tips for getting your child ready for the experience:

🗣 Share what helps. Let the camp team know your child’s communication strengths, challenges, and any strategies that support them.

📝 Ask for the daily routine. Reviewing the day's flow ahead of time helps your child know what to expect and can ease daily nerves.

🌲 Visit before camp starts. If possible, meet the counselors and walk through the space together. This can lessen anxiety and make the first day feel familiar.

🙋 Practice key phrases. Have your child rehearse saying their name, asking for help, and common camp phrases so they feel confident they will be understood.

🤗 Build excitement. Talk about what they’re looking forward to and share your enthusiasm with them.

Shoutout to our team player of the month award recipients, Sarah and Steph! 🎉

These two clinicians were recognized as incredible advocates who show up with passion and dedication for their clients each day. They are especially collaborative and adaptable in co-treating sessions, and the laughter and positivity they bring to the clinic is contagious. We are so grateful to have them on our team!

Meet Natalie, our OT and Operations Lead! If you see someone sprinting around outside with a big smile, it’s probably Nat in her favorite clinic spot— the Mountain Nature Space 🏔️

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Developmental FX, we know that mental wellness begins with feeling seen, understood, and valued. Mental health isn’t just about “fixing” challenges, it’s about fostering environments where every individual can feel safe showing up exactly as they are. 🧠

This month, we celebrate the strength of self-advocacy and the power of a supportive community. We are proud to be a space where children and families are met with dignity, respect, and deep clinical care.

The Autism Resource Fair is always a highlight of the spring season for DFX. We had a wonderful time connecting with our community and sharing resources alongside so many amazing organizations. Thank you for having us!

We loved connecting with our commuity and sharing the magic of our clinic].

By co-treating, collaborating on cases, and learning together, this team ensures that every child’s communication style is honored and supported. At DFX we are lifelong learners 🎉

One way we enact that role is through weekly Lunch & Learns. This month we are working our way through reviews of the different DIR courses that our team members have been taking this year. We started with DIR 101, and had such a blast playing DIR 101 Jeopardy! Beth and Hannah W quizzed us on foundations of the DIR model... complete with rubber duck prizes! 🦆
