The Lindsay Clancy trial has been sitting heavy with me these past weeks. Beyond the tragedy itself, it's a stark reminder of how many parents are suffering in silence β and how much is at stake when evidence-based perinatal mental health care doesn't reach the people who need it most.
That's exactly why I'm hosting a Perinatal Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) Training this fall.
IPT is one of only two treatments recommended by the US Preventive Services Task Force for preventing perinatal depression β and it works. I trained directly under the late Nancy Grote, PhD, a pioneer in perinatal IPT, and delivered it myself as a clinical therapist in an NIMH-funded trial treating perinatal parents with depression. This training is my way of getting that knowledge out of the research world and into the hands of clinicians who are with families every day.
