Anchor Center is the only privately funded organization in Colorado (and one of a handful nationwide) that provides early intervention/developmental education services to very young children with visual impai

rment. With an operating budget over $2 million, we rely heavily on individual donations to ensure our programs continue to meet the needs of Colorado’s children with vision loss.

We are so proud of each and every one of you and all that you have accomplished throughout your time at Anchor Center!

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible teachers and staff for making graduation such a special celebration and for creating a year filled with wonderful memories for our graduates and their families.

TREMENDOUS TUESDAYS: MEET SAWYER

"We moved to Colorado in September of last year for access to better medical and vision related resources, and Sawyer has been making huge strides in the last few months! We’re celebrating his much improved health and the opportunities we have to see him continue to grow and learn.

He is surging in growth from every direction, especially in speech. Sawyer is currently in the beginning stages of learning braille and learning to use his white cane. His favorite activities at the Anchor Center are playing in the motor room and snack time.

He’s a tremendously funny and loving kid, and we’re so proud of him!"

JOIN OUR TEAM! The Anchor Center for Blind Children has a full-time position for a Speech-Language Pathologist in our Preschool and Infants/Toddlers center-based programs. Come join our incredible interdisciplinary team and mission. A current Colorado DORA license required and a background in Early Childhood/Early Intervention preferred.

This is a full-time, hourly or salaried position with hours that will vary from 36-40 hours/week for 38 weeks/year, with compensation of $40-$50k+ per year, dependent upon experience; also, opportunities for occasional summer work with additional pay.

TREMENDOUS TUESDAYS: MR. MERLIN

Mr. Merlin has been with Anchor Center for over 5 years, and has served our community as an Early Childhood Special Educator, and Lead Teacher. Merlin truly sees the potential in each and every student, and celebrates every milestone. He is a strong advocate for our families, and provides a warm, fun, and silly classroom environment for his students and fellow staff. You will usually find Mr. Merlin wearing his red head and wristbands (born out of CVI strategies, but now a mandatory accessory and part of his teacher wardrobe) and making the most witty dad jokes you've ever heard!

Mr. Merlin will be relocating back across the pond with his family in England this summer - and we will miss his enthusiasm and energy at Anchor, but know he will continue to provide incredible support to students with special needs and their families.

Our 6th Annual Plant N’ Picnic was a beautiful celebration filled with gardening, creativity, and connection! Families joined us to plant flowers, herbs, seeds, and sensory plants throughout our outdoor spaces.

The kids also created sweet Mother’s Day cards, mini flower arrangements and seed globe gifts, making the day even more meaningful. 💐❤️

A special highlight is always welcoming back our amazing Anchor Center graduates who continue to be part of this cherished tradition year after year.

Huge thank you to Starbucks at Town Center - Central Park for generously donating coffee to keep everyone fueled, and to Colorado Garden Foundation for supporting this event through their funding.
