CAPA is a constituent chapter of the American Academy of Physician Assistants The Colorado Academy of Physician Assistants (CAPA) was established in 1976 to:

- Promote the PA profession to Colorado's lay and medical community.
- Offer community health education projects.
- Offer continuing medical education for PAs.
- Help ensure proper regulation and utilization of PAs in Colorado. The Colorado

Meet Stephanie Flores, this week’s CAPA Member Spotlight!
Stephanie originally joined CAPA to connect with fellow PAs, access high-quality CME, and find new ways to get involved in the community.
Moving forward, she is focused on giving back to the next generation of healthcare professionals. She is actively welcoming pre-PA students for shadowing opportunities and is looking forward to jumping back into precepting.

🌟 CAPA Member Spotlight: James Kramer 🌟
Today, we are incredibly honored to highlight past CAPA President, James Kramer, whose extraordinary career embodies the profound impact of the PA profession. From local community care to global disaster response, James has dedicated his life to service.
His journey in medicine is nothing short of inspiring:
🎖️ Military & Education Roots: Began his journey as an Air Force medic (1968–1977) before graduating with his Undergraduate and Master’s degrees from the University of Nebraska.
🏔️ Dedication to Colorado: Returned home to start a lifelong family practice in Pueblo, simultaneously working across urgent care clinics and the ER.
⚖️ Public & Humanitarian Service: Served the community as the Pueblo County Coroner for 37 years, conducted crucial child abuse advocacy exams, and joined medical missions to the Philippines, Ecuador, Vietnam, and Haiti.
🚨 Disaster Response: As a DMORT member, James deployed to provide critical aid during monumental crises, including 9/11 in NYC, Hurricane Katrina, numerous Florida hurricanes, and the tsunami response in Thailand.
Building the Foundation for Colorado PAs
As a past president of CAPA, James played an instrumental role in establishing the PA profession in our state. His leadership helped secure vital title protection, expand legislative authority, and pass prescriptive privileges that allow PAs to practice effectively today.
