DEPRESSION TIPS:
Shower. Not a bath, a shower. Use water as hot or cold as you like. You don’t even need to wash. Just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. Sit on the floor if you gotta.
Moisturize everything. Use whatever lotion you like. Unscented? Dollar store lotion? Fancy 48 hour lotion that makes you smell like a field of wildflowers? Use whatever you want, and use it all over your entire dermis.
Put on clean, comfortable clothes.
Put on your favorite underwear. Cute black lacy panties? Those ridiculous boxers you bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? Put them on.
Drink cold water. Use ice. If you want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.
Clean something. Doesn’t have to be anything big. Organize one drawer of a desk. Wash five dirty dishes. Do a load of laundry. Scrub the bathroom sink.
Blast music. Listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. Sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.
Make food. Don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. Take the time and make food. Even if it’s ramen. Add something special to it, like a soft boiled egg or some veggies. Prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.
Make something. Write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, color some rocks with markers or paint, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. Even if you don’t think you’re good at it. Create.
Go outside. Take a walk. Sit in the grass. Look at the clouds. Smell flowers. Put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.
Call someone. Call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. Talk to a stranger on the street. Have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. If you can’t bring yourself to call, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. Even if you don’t say much, listen to them. It helps. (You can always call/text/message me!)
Cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them. Take pictures of them. Talk to them. Tell them how you feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out, anything.
May seem small or silly to some, but this list keeps people alive.
*** At your absolute best you won’t be good enough for the wrong people. But at your worst, you’ll still be worth it to the right ones. Remember that. Keep holding on.
*** In case nobody has told you today I Love you and you are worth your weight and then some in gold, so be kind to yourself and most of all keep pushing on!!!!
***People don’t fake depression.. they fake being ok.

“The individual’s body is the crystallization in the physical world of the energy fields that surround and are part of each person”- Barbara Brennan✨

RIGIDITY. Even saying the word feels harsh. The world feels rigid. Our hearts feel hardened. Our bodies have become tense. The rigidity residing within you and I and this world is conceived from an accumulation of our ancestors’ oppression, our mother’s trauma while we’re in the womb, and the fear generated throughout this lifetime. The world is witnessing how fear can hijack authenticity and morph us into tense and hardened living beings. Wilhelm Reich, a doctor and a profound psychoanalyst from the early 1900s, believed we have armored with rigidness in response to turning against our natural instincts to fit into this mechanical culture. We have adapted too well to turning off our needs & desires as spiritual human beings. Most of us don’t even notice. In our culture, rigidity is seen as an asset to a functional way of life; The armor of RIGIDITY aligns with societal norms and expectations.

How so? And how do we surrender this armor to allow TRUST back in?

TCM & Prenatal care…what can it do?!

“A landmark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1998 found that up to 75% of women suffering from breech presentations before childbirth had fetuses that rotated to the normal position after receiving moxibustion at an acupuncture point on the Bladder meridian.” ~ https://www.acupuncturetoday.com/abc/moxibustion.php

One common concern for pregnant women is their baby’s positioning as the birth day approaches. When the baby’s head is positioned downward, close to the cervix it is described as cephalic presentation- the natural position to safely go through the birth canal. The term we hear more often and describes the opposite position, is breech. When a baby is breech, the mother’s risk for a C Section delivery is high. A TCM technique, called moxibustion, is an effective alternative medicine for facilitating the correct motion in a breech baby. In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture point zhi yin AKA Bladder 67 is the magical point at stimulating mom’s Qi that turns the baby.

What is moxibustion? Moxibustion is a heat therapy that burns moxa, consisting of a botanical called Artmesia vulgaris commonly known as mugwort. For breech babies, the moxa stick is burned close to the zhi yin point. Moxibustion strengthens the yang, invites smooth flow of Qi and blood, and warms the meridians~ a great recipe for a baby to get its move on! A pain free, low-cost, low risk, and a highly successful therapy. Read the article link above for some more information about moxibustion. .lounge

Wonder why it’s beneficial to eat seasonally? Well, for better taste of course😋! But also to balance our Yin/Yang energy and to harvest as much nutrient dense food for our bodies.

The energy has expanded from the roots and out into the fruits & foliage! It is the time of eating fresh salads, fruits, and vegetables. During winter, it’s the best time to eat root vegetables, because the energy contracts inwards. The reserve of Qi in the roots is nutrient dense. During this time of year, the Qi has migrated from the roots, and expanded outward. Now is the time to nourish ourselves with vital ☯️ Qi that resides in our favorite summertime foods like chards, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, kale, arugula, peppers, onions, squash, eggplant, celery, zucchini, rhubarb, melons & citrus, Lotus seeds, bamboo🎍, and aloe... just to name a few!

Summer is also the season for bitter tastes! Bitter is tonifying, it stimulates digestion and increases appetite. TCM suggests eating bitter food, like greens, plays the role of draining excess dampness. Excess dampness can disturb digestion, promote swelling and puffiness ~ not imbalances you want during your summer fun!
