I was talking to a friend the other day and told him I was one of the lucky ones to be starting a 2nd marriage with my same partner. I had said it something like this quote and he said I should coin it. Sadly I can't take credit.

We are ever evolving humans.
We will continue to change until the day we take our last breath.
This means our relationships are also going to be forever changing.

Some of us will change in different directions and choose to go our separate way.

While some of us will do life with the same partner because when we change, our relationship changes. And their will be a time where the relationship is extremely different from the one before.

If you are in a long term relationship have you seen it shift?
Have you made those shifts gracefully or was it quite messy?

Messy doesn't mean bad. You might still be working your way to the other side. If it is safe, stick with the mess and create something more beautiful!

Couples counseling is a great way to get through the mess 🥰

Most couples don't have a communication problem, they have a repair problem.

Conflict is normal in relationships.
How you repair either causing further damage or more intimacy.

If you seem to have the same fights over and over or to move on after a fight you have to sweep it under the rug you call to schedule with one of our couples counselors.

Have you ever had a conversation about each of your roles?
Or Have they just been assumed?
For a lot of couples, roles are just assumed and then resentment and frustration starts to build until it finally breaks.

With summer just around the corner and possibly more chaos with kids around and schedules shifting, take some time to talk about roles.

What is working or not working for you?
--Forget about gender norms and dig into what each of you are good at or enjoy doing and base roles off of that.
--There will be some roles that neither of you want to take on. This is an opportunity to asses how important it is and practice communication and compromising.

Negotiate who will be doing what so it can be a smoother (hopefully resentment free ☺️) summer.

All children have bad days, difficult phases, and emotional moments.
These are normal parts of growing up.
The challenge is distinguishing between typical childhood challenges and signs that your child needs professional support.

Trust is such an important part of relationships!
Trust is lost by the bucket full and gained back by the spoonful. These are those small moments that build and re-build trust.
Thank you LoveSecurely for this lovely reminder.

Trust doesn't get built in big dramatic moments. It gets built in the small, quiet, unremarkable ones. The promises you keep even when no one would notice. The honesty you choose when a small lie would've been easier. The way you respond when your partner shares something vulnerable. Whether you're the same person when they're not in the room.

These things don't feel significant in the moment. That's exactly why they matter. Your partner's sense of safety is tracking all of it, whether either of you realizes it or not.

Trust isn't built in one grand gesture. It's built in a thousand small ones they'll never forget.

If your child just told you they are being bullied, or if you just discovered it on your own, here is a simple starting point:

LISTEN FIRST

Let them tell you what has been happening without immediately jumping into fix-it mode. They need to feel heard before they can hear your response. Thank them for telling you, because it took courage!

If you are struggling with this check out our blog article to help you know how to handle it. We have multiple therapists that work with kids and accept insurance!
