What if your pediatric OT job gave you time to actually think, collaborate, document, and provide thoughtful care?

🌿 Thrive Collaborative is looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our small, multidisciplinary team serving neurodiverse children and families in Aspen + throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.

This is not a 30+ client caseload with back-to-back sessions all day.
✨ 40-hour workweek
✨ 25-hour weekly billable expectation
✨ Average 5–10 client caseload
✨ $90,000–$110,000 salary
✨ Work-from-home time for indirect work
✨ Telehealth when clinically appropriate
✨ Paid training + continuing education
✨ Medical, dental, vision + 401(k)
✨ Mileage reimbursement
✨ Relocation assistance and/or housing stipend negotiable

And perhaps most importantly…

💚 You’ll work alongside SLPs, BCBAs, ESDM specialists, interventionists, educators, and families while maintaining the autonomy to practice OT through your own clinical lens.

Our work is neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-centered, play-based, and focused on meaningful participation — not compliance, masking, or making kids fit a particular mold.

We’re looking for an OT who is ready to practice independently, lead the OT discipline, and help us continue building something really special.

Cohort 1 is underway!

We loved kicking off our first Parent Workshop Cohort on September 14–15 with these wonderful families!
Over the course of the workshop, families learned practical Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) strategies designed to support connection, communication, engagement, and learning within everyday routines and activities. And the learning doesn’t stop when the workshop ends! 💚

Throughout October, families are participating in weekly individualized coaching sessions focused on putting ESDM strategies into practice and working toward family-selected goals that are meaningful to their everyday lives. We are so excited to support these families as they take what they learned and put it into action at home.

It has been such an exciting partnership with the Carbondale Branch Library for our playful, interactive storytime experience led by Anisa Lavender. Families explore stories, songs, movement, and early literacy through American Sign Language (ASL) in a welcoming, inclusive space for all. If you haven’t been able to attend yet, don’t worry! 🌱 New Parent Workshop + 4-Week Coaching Series

Supporting a young neurodiverse child can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Join our small-group Parent Workshop designed for families of children ages 5 and under. Led by Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) certified therapists, this program combines practical, evidence-based instruction with four weeks of individualized parent coaching to help you confidently apply strategies during your everyday routines.

Together, we’ll focus on building communication, social engagement, play, and learning through meaningful interactions at home.

What an incredible morning at ASL Storytime! 🤟📚

We were blown away by the response—86 children, parents, and caregivers joined us for a fun-filled morning of stories, songs, movement, and American Sign Language! Seeing so many families learning, laughing, signing, and connecting together was truly inspiring.

At Thrive Collaborative, we love creating opportunities that make language accessible, celebrate different ways of communicating, and help children discover that learning can be joyful through play.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out and to the Pitkin County Library for partnering with us to make this event such a success!

💡 Insider Tip Tuesday

As parents and caregivers, it’s natural to ask lots of questions while playing with our children. We want to teach them colors, numbers, animals, and new vocabulary, so our play can quickly sound like:
“What color is that?”
“What’s that called?”
“How many blocks do you have?”

While these questions are well-intentioned, asking too many can unintentionally make play feel more like a quiz than a shared experience. Some children may begin giving only one-word answers, lose interest, or wait for the next question instead of taking the lead in the interaction.

Instead, try making comments about what you see:
🦕 “That dinosaur is stomping so loud!”
🏗️ “Wow, your tower is getting really tall!”
🚗 “Your car is racing so fast!”
🤔 “I wonder where it’s going next...”

Comments model rich language, reduce pressure, and create opportunities for children to respond naturally—whether that’s with words, gestures, facial expressions, or simply by expanding their play. This approach is especially helpful for supporting language development, social engagement, and connection in young children, including many children with autism and children with ADHD.

3 Common Myths About Challenging Behavior

Many of us were taught things about behavior that simply aren’t supported by what we know today.
❌ Myth #1: They’re just looking for attention.
✔ Reality: Every child needs connection. Often what looks like “attention-seeking” is actually connection-seeking.

❌ Myth #2: If I accommodate them, they’ll never learn.
✔ Reality: Support helps children build the skills they need to eventually become independent.

❌ Myth #3: They know better—they’re choosing not to.
✔ Reality: Many children struggle to access skills consistently when stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or dysregulated.
