What is postpartum hemorrhage, and why is it important to recognize the signs early? Postpartum hemorrhage is severe bleeding after childbirth that can quickly become life-threatening without prompt treatment. While uncommon, knowing the warning signs can help new moms get care when they need it most.

Postpartum hemorrhage can happen after any delivery, and symptoms may include heavy bleeding, dizziness, rapid heartbeat or feeling faint. If something doesn’t feel right after giving birth, trust your instincts and seek medical attention immediately.

Recovery doesn’t end when a patient leaves the hospital — and Trauma Survivors Day at HCA HealthONE Swedish is a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience and human connection that continue long after care is delivered.

Eight survivors returned to reconnect with the physicians, nurses and care teams who supported them through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Traveling from as far away as Florida, survivors shared personal milestones in their recovery journeys, encouraged one another and reflected on how far they have come since leaving the hospital. More than 75 people attended the event, which also included recognition of 10 colleagues for their dedication to supporting survivors and strengthening our trauma program. Across the HCA HealthONE network, we have a system of emergency rooms for all levels of patient care needs, whether that is at the Level IV emergency room at HCA HealthONE Rose or our Level I emergency room at HCA HealthONE Swedish!
