Why This Week Matters

Last week invited us to notice how our external environment might influence what happens within us.

This week looks closer at what moves through that environment and into our everyday experience.

Some inputs are intentional.
Some are incidental.
Some immediately get our attention.
Others become part of the background.

The invitation isn't to judge what you're consuming or immediately change it.

It's to notice:

What am I taking in?

Did I choose it?

And what seems to happen within me afterward?

That awareness can give us another piece of information for understanding ourselves and making more intentional choices about how we navigate our lives.

What if consumption is about more than what you choose?

It's easy to notice the things we intentionally consume.

But much of what we experience isn't something we deliberately selected.

It's simply around us often enough to become familiar.

That doesn't mean every input has a meaningful effect.

But sometimes understanding our patterns requires noticing what has been repeatedly entering our experience before the pattern ever appeared.

08/26/2026

How does what you consume leave you feeling?

Different inputs can affect us differently.

Something might leave you energized.

Distracted.

Curious.

Connected.

Tense.

Calm.

Inspired.

Or simply wanting more.

And the same input may not affect everyone the same way.

Noticing what happens afterward can tell us something about our own relationship with what we're consuming.

What have you noticed about how different inputs affect you?

08/25/2026

How much of what you consume do you actually choose?

Some inputs are easy to recognize.

The food we eat.
The shows we watch.
The music we play.

But others simply become part of our day.

A conversation happening nearby.
Something appearing in our feed.
Background noise.
The messages repeated in the places we spend our time.

We don't have to consciously choose something for it to become part of what we're experiencing.

What inputs have become so familiar that you barely notice them?

08/24/2026

What are you consuming?

08/23/2026

We're constantly taking in information and experiences, whether we're paying attention to them or not.

When we think about consumption, we often think about food.
But we're taking things in all day long.

Some inputs we intentionally choose.

Others we barely notice.

All of them become part of what we're experiencing, and they can influence how we feel, what receives our attention, what we think about, and how we respond.

This week isn't about deciding whether an input is good or bad.

It's about becoming more aware of what we're taking in and noticing what happens within us afterward.

08/23/2026

What is your environment bringing out in you?

08/15/2026

Why This Week Matters

The last few weeks have invited us to look inward.

At the beliefs influencing our behaviors.
At the relationship we have with ourselves.

This week widens the view.

Because understanding ourselves isn't only about understanding what's happening inside of us.

It's also about becoming aware of the relationship between ourselves and the environments we experience every day.

The invitation isn't to label an environment as good or bad.

It isn't to blame our surroundings for how we feel or behave.

And it isn't to immediately change anything.

It's to notice the interaction.

What is my environment bringing out in me?

And once we begin to understand that:

What do I want my environment to bring out in me?

08/13/2026

What if understanding yourself requires looking beyond yourself?

When something changes in how we feel or behave, it's natural to look inward.

Our thoughts.
Our beliefs.
Our choices.

Those things matter.

But we're also continually responding to what's happening around us.

Sometimes the pattern we're trying to understand isn't only within us.

Part of it may be found in the environment we're experiencing.

08/12/2026

What do you want your environment to bring out in you?

Different environments can bring different things forward in us.

Maybe you feel more open in some.
More focused in others.
More willing to speak, explore, connect, or simply slow down.

What matters isn't the same for everyone.

But noticing what different environments bring out in you can help you understand what you value in the places and spaces you spend your life.

What would you hope to experience more of in the environments around you?
