October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer is often related to women but though the chances are lesser than women, men are not exempt from this.

According to the American Cancer Society, death caused by breast cancer has decreased by 44% overall from 1989 through 2023 thanks to earlier detection by screenings and treatment advancements. With this, there are more than 4 million survivors in the U.S.

Our hearts go out to those going through this and those who have beat it.

You are strong. 💪 🩷

The year is 1999.

The US women's soccer team won the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup, the Matrix and Star Wars: Episode 1 movies made their appearance on the big screen, and Dr. Lorraine Alvarado started practicing at the Derby Family MedCenter.

"A Little More About Me - I am a husband and a new father! I like to spend my time enjoying the company of family and friends. I enjoy doing projects around the house and taking care of the lawn and garden. I am a huge sports fan and enjoy watching KU, as well as the Chiefs and Royals.

Why I Practice Medicine - I have always been interested in science and the fascinating way biology works. I grew up with parents in Medicine and always enjoyed watching them care for patients and the connections they formed. I have a true passion for health and wellness and hope to bring that passion to the community I serve.
