Happy Birthday to the HPV vaccine! 🎂

Twenty years ago today, on June 8, 2006, the FDA approved the HPV vaccine.
Since then, it has become one of the most effective tools available to help prevent six types of cancer, including cervical cancer. 🛡️

Today, we celebrate 20 years of cancer prevention through vaccination.

IMS Board Chair Joel Ryon, MD, and IMS member physician Robert Lopez, DO, visited the West Burlington Independent School District to speak with students in Intro to Patient Care and Health Care Systems about their journeys to becoming physicians.

This visit and talk support IMS’s Operation I.O.W.A. efforts to inspire early interest in health care careers and strengthen Iowa’s future physician workforce.
