Pain Is Personal. So Is Treatment.

Pain can look different for everyone. It may be sharp or aching, constant or occasional, or something that simply makes everyday movement harder than it should be. What matters is understanding what’s causing it—and finding the right approach to address it.

This Pain Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the many ways interventional pain management can help patients take a more active role in their health. Dr. Thomas Klein and Dr. Wesley Rayburn specialize in identifying and treating a variety of pain conditions using modern, nonnarcotic approaches designed around each patient’s individual needs.

If pain is keeping you from living life on your terms, it may be time to explore what’s possible.

The end of the year will be here before you know it—and appointment schedules can fill up quickly.

If you’ve been putting off orthopedic care, now is the time to schedule. As year-end approaches, more patients look to use their insurance benefits before deductibles reset, making appointments increasingly limited.

From joint replacement and sports medicine to spine care, trauma, and physical therapy, our specialists are here to help you move better and feel your best.

Don’t wait until the year-end rush. Schedule your appointment today: www.iowaortho.com/book-an-appointment/

🎒 Back-to-School Backpack Check!

A backpack that's too heavy can lead to back, neck, and shoulder pain—especially in growing kids.

Quick rule of thumb: A child's backpack should weigh no more than 10 – 15% of their body weight.

Think your child is carrying too much? Try our backpack safety challenge!

How many boxes can your child check? Let us know in the comments!

🎉 Student of the Month Spotlight 🎉

Iowa Ortho’s Student of the Month recognizes one outstanding student from the radiology programs we partner with at Mercy College of Health Sciences and Indian Hills Community College. While we value every student who rotates through our clinical site, this recognition is reserved for someone who truly goes above and beyond.

July Student of the Month: Mark!

Help us celebrate Mark, a second-year Radiologic Technology student at Mercy College of Health Sciences! 🩻

During his clinical rotation, Mark has truly stood out for his patience, kindness, and dedication to patient care. Even on the busiest X-ray days, he takes the time to give each patient his full attention, making sure they feel heard, comfortable, and well cared for.

Mark’s commitment to providing excellent, compassionate patient care is already making a difference—and we know he’ll be an outstanding technologist when he graduates next spring! 👏🎓

📱 Elbow pain, numbness, or tingling in your ring and little fingers? Your phone could be part of the problem.

"Cell phone elbow," also known as cubital tunnel syndrome, can develop when the elbow stays bent for long periods while texting, scrolling, or talking on the phone. Taking breaks and changing positions can help, but persistent symptoms shouldn't be ignored.

If you're experiencing these symptoms, our specialists can help determine the cause and recommend treatment options.
