Electronic Health Record, VA care teams can access all Veteran health information in a single system.

At Ann Arbor VA, that meant pharmacy staff could quickly review a traveling Veteran’s medication information without logging into a separate system.

Hear from the pharmacist who helped the traveling Veteran and see how the Federal EHR can make it easier for VA teams to support Veterans receiving care away from home.

VA Central Iowa Staff were recently recognized at the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) Annual meeting for their successful completion of the IHA Leadership Development Program.

The Iowa Hospital Association Leadership Development Program is especially valuable in today’s health care environment, where taking on a leadership role has become more challenging and complex than ever. The program helps participants build essential leadership competencies while strengthening the interpersonal and human-relations skills needed to lead effectively and retain committed, highly qualified staff in Iowa hospitals.

Through its multidimensional approach, the program connects each session’s lessons to everyday workplace situations. Small-group discussions also create meaningful opportunities for networking, collaborative problem-solving, and learning from real-life experiences. Although the program is designed for health care professionals who have assumed organizational management or leadership responsibilities, it also provides experienced staff with an opportunity to refresh and expand their skills and knowledge.

Partnerships such as this demonstrate VA Central Iowa’s commitment to developing and supporting health care leaders as they take on these important responsibilities within our health care system.
