What is the EyeAnalysis? It's the detailed evaluation that maps your eyes before any procedure is recommended. Corneal shape and thickness, your prescription, the dimensions of your eye, and the health of your cornea and retina all factor in.

Can I drive after LASIK? Here's what to plan for. 🚗

On the day of your procedure, you'll need someone to drive you home. Right after surgery, your vision is often already sharper than it ever was with glasses or contacts, but things stay a little blurry and your eyes feel irritated for a couple of hours. That's why we ask every patient to bring a driver that day.

Most patients drive themselves to their post-op appointment the next day.

How do I know if I have thin corneas? 👀 You can't tell on your own. The only way to find out is a quick, painless test called pachymetry that measures how thick your corneas are.

At Modern Vision Centers in Des Moines, we use both standard and more advanced methods. Your corneal thickness helps determine which path fits you, a laser option like LASIK, SMILE, or PRK, or a lens-based one like the EVO ICL or RLE.

Thin corneas don't close the door. They just help us find the right room.

Does crying affect your ICL? 😭 No.

That's because EVO ICL is different than a traditional contact lens. A regular contact lens sits on the surface of your eye, so a good cry can shift it around. The EVO ICL sits *inside* your eye, behind the iris. Your tears stay out on the surface where they belong. They never reach the lens.

So, you can let it all out. Your vision isn't going anywhere.

TBT to our own Asic H., technician at Modern Vision Centers, visiting Central Campus DSM to talk with Health Science students about the world of optometry and ophthalmology. Asic introduced students to our clinic, walked through the many career paths in eye care, and explained the different procedures we perform to help people see their best.

The students learning together at Central Campus today could be the technicians, surgeons and care teams of tomorrow, and we love being part of that spark! Thank you to the Health Science program for having us, and to these curious, engaged students for the great questions!
