The number of electric scooter, eBike and electric cycle accident victims continues to rise in our emergency rooms.
In 2021 we saw 28 total patients between our four ER’s in the metro.
In 2023 we treated 61.
In 2025 the number was 123.
This year, we are at 79 and not even halfway through the year.
Many of the cases are children. And many of the injuries are very serious. Our trauma team and ER staff urge parents to understand some of these are powerful vehicles and not toys. And ALWAYS wear proper safety equipment! Several metro cities are considering or implementing new regulations around electric vehicles.
