Being a teacher is a noble profession . Students don’t know how teachers devote their time and talent for the bright future of their students …
Alejandro Navarro, a maths teacher at Del Rio Middle School, spent his final hours thinking about his students.
His daughter, Sandra Venegas, revealed that her father had battled heart problems for years before his condition suddenly worsened in the week before Christmas 2020, forcing him to be rushed to hospital.
"His heart was only working at 20 percent at that point. His kidneys were very damaged," Venegas said.
Despite being in intensive care, Navarro was determined to finish grading his students' work before heading to the emergency room. Sandra shared a photo showing him in the ICU with his laptop on his lap while doctors carried out tests.
"He knew his heart could stop at any moment, but he wanted to make sure he got those last grades in," she explained.
Reflecting on his dedication, Sandra wrote: "Teachers put in so many extra hours, hours that many don't realize. Even during a pandemic, even during a health crisis, teachers worry about completing their duties."
Navarro sadly passed away the following day.
