Timothy Lubenow, MD, a world-renowned physician and pain relief pioneer at MAPS Centers for Pain Control, explains how Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) stimulation is a minimally invasive procedure that is designed to target specific nerves responsible for chronic pain.

The outpatient procedure involves small incisions, with most patients recovering in just 1-2 weeks.

After recovery, physical or occupational therapy helps restore normal movement patterns, improving mobility and maximizing pain relief.

Get back to doing what you love with less pain.

Don’t Overlook These Causes of Knee Pain 🔍

Knee pain is a common issue, but many people would be surprised to know that persistent knee pain can be caused by an underlying issue, including:

1. Nerve irritation
2. Alignment, posture, and how you move
3. Minor strains that never properly healed

MAPS Centers for Pain Control identifies the source of your knee pain and creates a personalized non-surgical treatment plan, so you can feel real knee pain relief.

Big week for our team at ASPN 2026!

MAPS Centers for Pain Control was proud to attend the 8th annual American Society of Pain & Neuroscience conference at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach.

MAPS’ own Timothy R. Lubenow, MD, spoke on the panel for "Interventional Oncology for Pain Physicians: A Developing Clinical Frontier," conversing on where cancer pain management is heading and sharing insight from decades of clinical leadership in the field. Dr. Lubenow is a triple board-certified physician and internationally recognized specialist in CRPS and neuromodulation.

Our team, including Adarsh Shukla, MD, LCP-C, Jeanelle Ignacio, AGACNP-BC, Daniel Drag, FNP-C, and Daniel Juarez, PA-C, was proud to support Dr. Lubenow and represent MAPS.

We got to spend time with Dr. Dirk De Ridder, catch up with colleagues over dinner hosted by Pentec Health, and celebrate cutting-edge science and training that keeps our patients well cared for.

Most people think of pain as purely physical. Thomas Pontinen, MD, LCP-C at MAPS Centers for Pain Control, knows that's only half the picture.

"Pain isn't just a physical sensation, it's an emotional response to a physical sensation."

When you're stressed, anxious, or dealing with depression, your brain actually interprets physical sensations as more painful than it would otherwise. If your treatment plan isn't addressing the emotional and mental effects of chronic pain, it isn't addressing the whole problem.

This is what sets MAPS apart from the rest. Our double board-certified physicians treat the complete picture, not just the source of the pain.
