I’ll just be at home hanging out with my favorite tree🤣~This is definitely more me in my earlier years of motherhood. When my eldest daughter Gracie was in elementary school (before we started homeschooling and eventually found our way into unschooling), I joined the PTO. I really tried to do all the things. I showed up, volunteered, got involved, and genuinely wanted to make it work~but if I’m being honest, it was never a fit for me. I remember feeling incredibly defeated during that season, like somehow I was failing at something everyone else seemed to navigate so effortlessly. Looking back now, I realize my intuition was trying to tell me something long before I had the words for it. Deep in my heart, I always felt that the traditional school system had a way of dimming the spirit. The strict schedules, rigid routines, rushed mornings, constant rushing from one thing to the next, bells telling you when to eat, when to sit, when to move, when to talk… alphabet agencies upon alphabet agencies 🤣😭~it all felt so far removed from how I believed childhood was meant to feel. And once we stepped outside of that system, I realized just how much freedom we had been missing. Freedom to follow curiosity. Freedom to move slowly. Freedom to sleep when we were tired and be outside when the weather was beautiful. Freedom to let learning happen naturally instead of constantly trying to squeeze little humans into a timetable designed for efficiency. I honestly can’t imagine going back to that type of setting now. My nervous system would probably file for divorce. 😭🤣What once felt like my inability to “fit in” eventually became one of the biggest clues that we were meant to do things differently. And I’m so grateful I listened. And today~I have the MOST Beautiful, Aligned friendships with other likeminded families and mothers♥️
