Attunigrate

Attunigrate Nava Therapy to Attunigrate: A sanctuary where ancient practices & modern psychology heal.

Within its walls, souls find solace, and the journey towards self-discovery begins, guided by the nurturing wisdom of a National Board Certified Counselor. Nishani Jayawardena, a proficient Licensed Professional Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor, is the visionary founder behind Nava Therapy, a renowned center for personal growth and healing situated in Michigan. When we live in a so

ciety that rewards what you do, rather than who you are, it can create a sense of unfulfillment. Nava, meaning “new” represents a personalized therapeutic approach that you will experience during your sessions.

Your therapist said, “try grounding yourself,”
and then took that personally. 😅

Sometimes regulation looks like breathing.
Sometimes it looks like stretching.
And sometimes it looks like lying on the floor between sessions and calling it clinical.

Send this to someone who needs to be horizontal for emotional reasons.

Somewhere along the way, you may have learned that love meant paying attention to everyone else’s mood.

The silence in the room.
The shift in someone’s tone.
The look on their face.
The feeling that something was wrong, and somehow it was your job to fix it.

Maybe no one ever sat you down and said, “You are responsible for how we feel.”

But your body learned it anyway.

If they were disappointed, you felt guilty.
If they were anxious, you tried to calm them.
If they were upset, you made yourself smaller.
If you had a need, you questioned whether it was too much.

And that is such a heavy way to grow up.

Because you can love your parents deeply and still admit that some of what you carried was never yours.

You can understand their pain without making it your whole personality.
You can care about them without becoming responsible for their reactions.
You can honor your family without losing yourself in the process.

Healing does not always look dramatic.

Sometimes it is the small pause before saying yes.
The breath you take before over-explaining.
The moment you let someone be upset without immediately trying to fix it.
The quiet question: “Is this actually mine to carry?”

Therapy can be a space to untangle the guilt, the fear, and the roles you learned too early.

Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸

Here’s to emotional independence, peaceful nervous systems, and boundaries that don’t need a whole explanation.

07/03/2026

AI can be helpful for sorting thoughts.

But sometimes the thing you’re trying to “process” needs more than a quick response, a list of coping skills, or a perfectly worded explanation.

Therapy gives you space to slow down, notice the pattern, understand where it comes from, and feel supported by a real person while you unpack it.

Because some things don’t just need an answer.

They need attunement, context, and care.

We’ve all done it.

You pick up your phone to check one thing… and suddenly 45 minutes are gone, your brain feels louder, and you’re somehow more tired than when you started.

Doom scrolling usually is not about being lazy. A lot of the time, it’s your nervous system looking for a quick escape, distraction, or sense of control.

To gently break the cycle, try this:

Pause and name what’s happening:
“I’m scrolling because I’m tired, anxious, bored, or avoiding something.”

Then ask:
“What do I actually need right now?”

Maybe it’s water.
Maybe it’s rest.
Maybe it’s a text back.
Maybe it’s stepping away from the phone for one minute before your brain negotiates with you.

You don’t have to shame yourself out of the habit.
You can interrupt the pattern with awareness and one small choice.

A little behind the scenes with Nishani Jayawardena , founder and therapist at Attunigrate. 🤍

Because creating mental health content is meaningful work… but it also comes with missed lines, unexpected laughter, awkward pauses, and plenty of “wait, let me try that again.”

We love sharing grounded, honest conversations about therapy, healing, and being human and sometimes being human looks like laughing through the bloopers too.

Therapists off the clock are still people.

We laugh, hang out, and try very hard to stay in friend mode… but sometimes someone says something just a little too real and the therapist instincts quietly clock in. 😅

Not to analyze. Not to make it awkward. Just to check in with care.

Because sometimes support looks like one gentle question, a little laughter, and making sure the people around us know they don’t have to carry the heavy stuff alone.

Attunigrate is accepting adult clients for virtual therapy across Michigan.

You don’t have to make the heavy stuff sound lighter just to be understood.

Bring the messy version.
Bring the “I don’t know where to start.”
Bring the thing you’ve been carrying quietly.

The heavy stuff is welcome in therapy too.
