What is a doula?

“a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.”

Women are faced with various obstacles when pregnant. Not every pregnancy is a perfect one but having that support person who is knowledgeable in pregnancy from beginning to end on the physical aspect, relaxation techniques, policies in healthcare, and of course babies can help to decrease this stigma and possible negative turnouts. Having a doula helps to empower the woman and her partner during this time.

There is so much truth in this statement. From personal experience, I had 3 very different births. First one was very dependent on the physicians and nurses and it was the longest and most painful. The second was birth with a little more education and very fairly quickly. But the third was when I was most knowledgeable and knew that the essence of giving life comes from me. I had more power and control over the situation. I was able to do it in complete love and peace. Knowing is key 🔑

A woman’s body has the ability to make room for life without compromising the health of the Mother. Do she feel tired? Yes. May it be harder to breath the further she gets? Yes. Are there possibilities of conditions like gestational diabetes, etc.? Yes. But every woman’s story is different but the process remains 💞💞

S*x is natural. Pregnancy is natural. Laboring and delivering is natural. So why does it seem as if it’s another “health condition” that the woman must overcome?? Get educated. Get supported. Get a doula.
