IRON DEFICIENCY MATTERS—EVEN BEFORE ANEMIA 🩸🩸
New 2026 guidance from the American Society of Hematology highlights that iron deficiency can be present even when hemoglobin is still normal. For many adults, a ferritin level of 30 ng/mL or lower may indicate iron deficiency; a higher threshold may be appropriate for some people at increased risk.
That’s why checking iron levels and addressing a deficiency matters. Low iron can affect how you feel and function, and the right treatment depends on your lab results, symptoms, and overall health.
At Medicina Scarlett, we’ve incorporated this updated guidance into our approach to evaluating iron deficiency. We offer iron infusions when clinically appropriate, with care tailored to each patient.
Ask our team whether iron testing or an infusion may be right for you.
