You opened your phone to check one text. That was 45 minutes and three separate crises ago. 📱

If this is you, you’re not broken, and you’re definitely not alone. Doomscrolling isn’t a willpower problem. It’s your nervous system responding exactly the way it’s built to respond to a constant stream of distressing information, served up by an algorithm that knows exactly what keeps you scrolling.
Swipe for a few things that actually help (spoiler: none of them involve willpower alone).

If the news has been sitting heavier than usual lately, that’s genuinely worth talking to someone about. We’re here for that. 💙

You opened your phone to check one notification. That was 45 minutes, three news articles, and a mildly elevated heart rate ago. Sound familiar? 📱

If you've been doomscrolling more than usual lately, you're not alone and it's not a willpower issue. Constant news exposure, especially through algorithm-driven feeds, is genuinely hard on the nervous system. Your brain is responding exactly the way it's built to respond to a nonstop stream of distressing information.

A few things that actually help:
✔️ Set specific "news windows" instead of all-day exposure.
✔️ Turn off push notifications. You'll still find out, just on your terms.
✔️ Curate a small number of reliable sources instead of an endless feed.
✔️ Do something small and tangible. It restores a sense of control.
✔️ Talk about it. Processing distressing events out loud genuinely helps.

If the weight of everything happening in the world has been sitting heavier than usual, that's worth paying attention to. You don't have to carry it alone.

If you’ve started this caption three times because a notification, a thought about lunch, and a memory from 2014 all interrupted you 👋 hi, this post is for you.

ADHD isn’t about being “a little scattered” or needing a cuter planner (RIP to every planner you’ve ever bought). It’s a real, different way the brain handles attention, motivation, and follow-through. It deserves real support, not just “just focus!” energy from people who’ve never lost their car keys while holding them.

Swipe for a very accurate and slightly unhinged list of signs. 👆

Ericka Mojica, LLPC specializes in neurodiversity-affirming ADHD therapy, helping you build a life that works with your brain instead of constantly fighting it. In-person in Troy or online anywhere in Michigan.

No official diagnosis required to start. Just bring your 47 tabs. 💙

Have you ever walked into a room with a very clear purpose and immediately forgotten what it was? Started cleaning one thing and ended up deep-cleaning something completely unrelated three rooms away? Set six timers on your phone for things you've already forgotten you were timing?

Let's talk about ADHD. 🧠

ADHD isn't laziness, and it's not a character flaw. It's a real difference in how the brain manages attention, motivation, and follow-through. And for a lot of adults, it goes undiagnosed for decades, usually after years of "just try harder" advice that never actually worked (because it was never a trying-harder problem to begin with).

At Sonder Counseling, Ericka Mojica, LLPC specializes in neurodiversity-affirming ADHD therapy for teens and adults. Rather than treating ADHD as something to eliminate, she helps clients build a life and strategies that actually work with their brain. In-person in Troy or online anywhere in Michigan.

If any of this sounds a little too familiar, it might be worth a conversation. No official diagnosis required to start.

We're excited to share that Sonder Counseling now offers EMDR therapy. 🧠

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach designed to help the brain process and heal from memories that feel "stuck" — memories that still carry an emotional charge no matter how much time has passed.

While EMDR is well known for treating PTSD, it's also effective for anxiety, phobias, grief, and other distressing experiences — especially for people who've done talk therapy but still feel unresolved around certain memories.

Ericka Mojica, LLPC is now certified in EMDR and offers sessions both in-person at our Troy office and online across Michigan. She also specializes in trauma, neurodiversity, and the mind-body connection.

If this sounds like something that could help, we'd love to talk. Every new client starts with a free 15-minute consultation.

Do you ever notice feeling much more grounded after spending time in nature? Some of the best mental health advice doesn’t come from a textbook. It comes from watching a butterfly take its time. 🦋

Nature has a way of slowing us down without asking anything of us. A pause from stress and deadlines. An opportunity to savor sunlight, color, and something small moving at its own pace.

Time outside has been shown to lower stress hormones, boost mood, and restore the kind of attention that gets worn down by screens and to-do lists. You don’t need a hike or a hard reset. A few minutes outside, really noticing something like this, counts.

Where’s your favorite place to slow down outside? 🌿
