Last year, our Swing into Action Golf Outing brought together partners, sponsors, and supporters for a day of connection, camaraderie, and purpose, raising critical funds to support older adults and individuals with disabilities across our community.

Thank you to our incredible sponsors whose continued support makes this impact possible.
As we celebrate our 33rd year, this event continues to reflect what’s possible when we come together around our mission.

We’re back at it this Monday, and we can’t wait to do it again. Stay tuned!

Across Detroit and the communities DAAA serves, we continue to see how quickly a Medicare number can be misused—often leading to bills for services never received, incorrect medical records, and time-consuming recovery.

That’s why one message matters:
Guard your Medicare number like your bank account. Only share it with trusted providers—and only when you initiate the conversation.

Protection starts with awareness, but it lasts when we act on it.

Medicare Fraud Prevention Week is about protecting our people, and that starts right here in our community.

Check in with someone you love today. Ask if they’ve gotten a call or offer like this. Remind them: if they didn’t initiate the conversation, they don’t need to share their information.

Real protection happens in these everyday moments, neighbors looking out, families talking, and our community staying informed together.

DAAA encourages providers to proactively educate patients about common scam tactics and reinforce a simple but essential message: services, tests, and medical equipment should only come from providers they know and trust, not unsolicited calls, mailings, or door-to-door offers.

These conversations matter. When providers take a moment to educate, they help patients safeguard their Medicare benefits, prevent medical identity theft, and reduce the risk of fraud, errors, and abuse before it happens.

Sharing joyful moments with family is important; protecting personal information is even more critical.

Across Metro Detroit and the communities DAAA serves, we’re reminding caregivers and families: never share a Medicare number with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly, whether by phone, email, or at your door. Medicare will not reach out uninvited to ask for personal information.

If that information falls into the wrong hands, it can be used to bill for services that were never received, putting your loved one at risk for medical identity theft, incorrect health records, and loss of benefits.

It’s Day 1 of Medicare Fraud Prevention Week.

This national effort is all about empowering individuals, families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report Medicare fraud, because protecting benefits starts with awareness and everyday action.

Families and caregivers across Metro Detroit, you play a critical role.

Start the conversation today, remind your loved ones to guard their Medicare number like a bank account number and never share it with unverified sources.
