A split second can change a child's life forever. After being shot in the chest during an incident in Downtown Detroit last month, 14-year-old Tavuan was transported to Children's Hospital of Michigan, where he received care from our trauma team.

Today, Tavuan is back home recovering and sharing an important message with other teens: "Stop the violence. Violence is not cool."

At Children's Hospital of Michigan, we care for children affected by injuries and trauma and understand the impact these events can have on patients, families and communities. Through awareness and education, we can continue important conversations about gun violence and prevention.
