Funeral and gravesite flowers are a beautiful way to express love and devotion to someone who has passed.

Some flowers carry special meanings:

Blue irises: faith and hope
Calla lilies: holiness, purity, and faith
Forget-me-nots: remembrance
Gladioli: integrity, strength, and honor
Marigolds: grief and remembrance; often linked to Día de los Mu***os
White or yellow mums: grief and remembrance; popular in Chinese culture
Zinnias: goodness and friendship

Always use a cemetery-approved vase for hand-tied bouquets.

If visiting the cemetery yourself isn’t possible, services like Cemetery Flowers (www.cemeteryflowers.com can help. They offer single placements or recurring handmade silk-blend bouquets, ensuring your loved one is honored on special occasions while following cemetery regulations.

Kindness, compassion, and attention to every detail are at the heart of what we strive to provide for each family who walks through our doors.

We are grateful for the trust families place in our DeWitt Chapel team during some of life’s most difficult moments, and deeply appreciative when they take the time to share their experience.

Thank you for allowing us the privilege to care for your loved ones and serve the DeWitt community with dignity, empathy, and respect.

We are grateful to be part of a team of dedicated professionals who work together to serve families throughout Mid-Michigan with compassion and care.
We are proud to represent the DeWitt community as part of this exceptional team.

Behind every service, every phone call, every arrangement conference, and every family we have the privilege to serve is a team of caring professionals dedicated to making a difficult time a little easier.

Yesterday, team members from across our chapels gathered at our Lansing Chapel for our quarterly business meeting. While we're missing a few familiar faces, we're grateful for the opportunity to learn together, support one another, and continue our commitment to serving Mid-Michigan families with compassion and care.

Thank you for trusting us to be part of life's most important moments. From Lansing to East Lansing, DeWitt, Mason, Williamston, and Tiffany Chapel, we're honored to serve our communities together.

National Donut Day has a surprisingly meaningful history.

First celebrated in 1938 by The Salvation Army, the day was created to honor the “Donut Lassies” - women who served donuts, coffee, comfort, and conversation to soldiers during World War I. What began as a small act of care became a lasting symbol of compassion during difficult times.

At Gorsline Runciman, we often see how the smallest gestures can leave the biggest impact. A warm meal, a familiar recipe, coffee shared around a table, or even a simple donut can become part of the memories families hold close.

Today, we’re celebrating the sweet traditions, comforting moments, and people who make hard days a little softer. 🍩

Have you noticed something new blooming at our DeWitt Chapel?

We recently planted a garden filled with beautiful hydrangeas to help welcome the families and visitors who walk through our doors each day.

Hydrangeas are often associated with gratitude, heartfelt emotion, and remembrance... qualities that feel especially meaningful in a place dedicated to honoring lives and supporting families.

We're proud to call DeWitt home and grateful to be part of a community that values beauty, kindness, and caring for one another. As the summer progresses, we look forward to watching these hydrangeas grow and brighten our corner of town.

Be sure to give them a wave the next time you drive by!

Grief changes shape over time, but love remains.

On the difficult days, we hope you give yourself the same kindness and compassion you would offer someone else walking through loss.

You are allowed to grieve.
You are allowed to heal.
You are allowed to carry both sorrow and beautiful memories together.

Today, we pause as a community to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

It was moving to see so many gather in downtown DeWitt for the Memorial Day parade and ceremony at the cemetery… neighbors lining the streets, veterans marching with pride, and families coming together in remembrance.

At Gorsline Runciman DeWitt Chapel, we are deeply grateful for the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes and for the veterans in our own community who continue to carry their memory forward with dignity and honor.

On this Memorial Day, we remember not only those who served, but those who never made it home. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the service members who gave their lives for our country and remember the families forever changed by that sacrifice.

Whether through traditions passed down, flags placed in remembrance, or stories shared around the table, love and memory continue to keep their legacy alive.

From all of us at Gorsline Runciman, we wish the DeWitt community a meaningful Memorial Day weekend.

As Memorial Day approaches, we’ve been reflecting on the long history of funeral service here in DeWitt. This 1965 advertisement features the former Vincent-Rummell Funeral Home, which once stood on the very same property our DeWitt Chapel calls home today.

For generations, this location has served as a place where families gathered to honor lives, support one another, and remember those who served our country and community with courage and sacrifice. For generations, families have called that exact same phone number in the ad and received thoughtful, dedicated care.

While much has changed over the decades, the heart behind that service remains the same. We are honored to continue caring for DeWitt-area families from this historic spot so many have known through the years.

As we prepare to observe Memorial Day, we remember and give thanks to all who gave their lives in service to our nation, and to the families who carry their memory forward.
