Help us welcome our new vice president of human resources, Alexis Travers! 👋
Alexis will provide HR leadership support for the Mercy Southeast Communities including Mercy Southeast, Mercy Stoddard and Mercy Perry as well as continuing her existing HR leadership for Mercy Jefferson, allowing our HR to partner closely with caregivers and leaders across the region.
“Over the past several months, I've been inspired by the passion, resilience and commitment I've seen throughout Southeast Missouri” Alexis said. “I'm excited to continue learning from our teams, supporting our caregivers and working alongside our leaders as we advance Mercy's mission and serve our patients. As someone who believes culture is one of an organization's greatest strengths, I feel incredibly fortunate to become a permanent part of this team, which already has an outstanding culture. I have no doubt what has been built here in these communities is something truly special, and I am honored and excited to be part of it.”
Alexis has been with Mercy for more than 10 years and has over 13 years of human resources experience. She began her journey with Mercy as an intern while completing her master’s degree. Alexis most recently served as executive director of human resources at Mercy Jefferson, where she supported workforce strategy, caregiver engagement, succession planning, operational leadership, acquisitions and organizational change initiatives.
"What stands out most about Alexis is her ability to bring people together around a shared purpose," said Mandy Shelast, Mercy Southeast Communities president. "She is already a respected leader within Mercy who values collaboration and listens to others. I’m excited to see the positive impact she will have in this new role with our caregivers in our Mercy Southeast Communities."
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and a Master of Health Administration degree, both from Saint Louis University. She also served as an adjunct professor at SLU, teaching students pursuing the same Master of Health Administration degree she earned.
Alexis was born and raised in the St. Louis suburb of Creve Coeur, Missouri, and has lived there most of her life. She is married and has three children. They also have three rescue dogs: two great pyrenees and a newfoundland/golden retriever mix. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, doing CrossFit, trying new restaurants and binge-watching a good TV series.
“I’m excited to become part of this community,” Alexis said. “Over the past several months, I've already experienced the warmth, compassion and commitment of our caregivers. My family and I are looking forward to making Cape Girardeau our home.”
