If you are enjoying this holiday on San Luis Pass, say hello to our CERT family members who are busy reminding visitors to be safe. They can answer questions about RIP Tides, restaurants and a variety of other questions. Operation Safe and Sound is another way CERT serves our community.

Operation Safe and Sound is one of the many ways CERT serves our community every summer holiday. Today our CERT members patrolled the beaches at The San Luis Pass helping keep our visitors safe. CERT shows people where they can swim safely, explain the hazards of a RIP Tide and answer multiple questions many visitors have. Thanks to everyone who showed up to help this weekend.

Tropical Storm Edouard is making landfall east of the Sabine Pass. Impacts here in Galveston County are expected to be limited primarily to periods of rain, 3-5 inches possible.

The Galveston County Office of Emergency Management is working closely with the US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas and our local, state, and federal partners to monitor the storm and coordinate any response that may be needed.

If you’re out and about this afternoon/evening, please drive carefully. If we see periods of heavy rainfall, remember: Turn around, don’t drown. Never drive through a flooded roadway.

Tonight, out of an abundance of caution, we activated our CERT Team on Bolivar Pennisula. Ron picked up the CERT Trailer filled with supplies to assure they were available if needed.

Thanks to The Eagle’s Lodge at Chrystal Beach for the donation of the generator and other supplies. Of course this incident is a great way for us to test our responses and assure our team can be there in a disaster.

Preparedness is peace of mind. 🇺🇸💙
