People often ask what led me to midwifery.
The truth is, I didn’t set out to become a midwife.
I loved serving families as a doula. I loved supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. But over and over again, I found myself walking alongside families who were struggling to find care that truly aligned with their values.
Sometimes there weren’t enough options.
Sometimes providers were already booked.
Sometimes families simply wanted a different approach to education, informed decision-making, and support.
I found myself wishing there were more seats at the table.
Over time, that desire became something deeper. What began as frustration for the families I served slowly became a calling to step into a larger role.
Not because I thought I could do it better than anyone else, but because I wanted to become part of the change I hoped to see.
Today, I still carry the heart of a doula with me. I still believe families deserve education, autonomy, respect, and individualized care. The role may have changed, but the mission hasn’t.
It is an incredible privilege to walk alongside families during some of the most transformative moments of their lives, and I don’t take that calling lightly. 🤍
