It’s unfortunate, but trauma often goes hand in hand with addiction. Women are particularly susceptible to developing an addiction due to trauma. 80% of women seeking addiction treatment have a history of trauma or abuse. That’s quite a strong correlation between the two. This is why Women's Recovery believes addressing trauma is a key part of recovery from any kind of addiction or mental health disorder.

Women's Recovery understands the complexities involved between trauma and addiction and our program reflects and supports this healing process.

"I'm 29 years old and I have battled addiction on and off for the past decade. I have been to treatment centers all over the country, many for periods of a year or more. After my most recent relapse with Benzodiazepines I found myself at my tenth treatment center-Denver Women’s Recovery. I was scared, a bit broken, and incredibly angry with everyone and everything. DWR challenged the deep rooted schemas I had about myself and my place in the world. They took a genuine interest in me and my life. The small groups and one on one time with my counselor and case manager was exactly what I needed. I felt safe, loved, and most of all I felt like I mattered and belonged in this world. Today, I have almost 8 months clean and I couldn’t be more grateful to Holly and all the staff at DWR. I'm honored to be a part of the Denver Women’s Recovery Alumni sisterhood." ~ Becky (Name changed for testimonial).

We are so proud to work with wonderful women and to have been part of Becky's recovery process.

If you're addicted to he**in, fentanyl, pain medication or a similar opioid drug, you're not alone. Thousands of women and Colorado residents struggle with the same problem…

Here are some facts and figures that illustrate the scope of the crisis:
1. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, there were nearly 600 opioid overdose deaths in the state of Colorado in 2017 (200 in Denver alone).
2. The number of yearly overdose deaths in Colorado has increased for 13 of the past 15 years.
3. The CHI’s 2017 Substance Use Report shows that only 15.7% of addicts who need treatment seek it out. Unfortunately, women seem to seek treatment less often than men.

There’s no shame in seeking addiction treatment for a drug abuse problem. If you can benefit from attending one of the drug or alcohol recovery programs in Colorado, don't wait any longer.

“I got so much freedom and my life changed for the better in such a short period of time from committing myself to the process of recovery that I just wanted to do that for a living,” Wilson says. “I started working in that treatment center in Utah and worked my way up gradually.”

Holly Wilson founded Women's Recovery in Denver and Dillon, Colorado to offer trauma-informed addiction treatment for women.
