Happy Pride Month! 🌈

This month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and authenticity of the LGBTQ+ community while recognizing the importance of safe, affirming support for mental health and well-being.

For anyone seeking LGBTQ+ affirming resources, the Association of LGBTQ+ Psychiatrists (AGLP) can help connect individuals with providers who identify as LGBTQIA+ or actively advocate for the community. 🔗 https://www.aglp.org

The LGBT National Help Center offers support through specialized hotlines for youth, older adults, and those navigating the coming-out process. 🔗 https://lgbthotline.org

LGBTQIA+ youth can also find connection, education, and crisis support through The Trevor Project. 🔗 https://www.thetrevorproject.org

Exciting news, too: Roberts Counseling will be attending Dixon Pride on Saturday, June 13, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM! 🏳️‍🌈 Be sure to stop by our booth, say hello, and learn more about the services we offer. Visitors may even have a chance to walk away with a little extra spending money… 👀💵

Everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported; not just this month, but every day of the year. We hope to see you there! ✨

💚 Mental Health Awareness Month Destigmatizing Bingo! 💚

Before we dive in, a quick update: our Mental Health Awareness Month raffle winner will be announced Monday instead of today! We wanted to give everyone a few extra days to participate before May comes to a close. If you haven’t entered yet, be sure to find the original raffle post pinned to the top of the Roberts Counseling page and follow the entry instructions there. 🎁

Meanwhile, how many squares can you check off on our Destigmatizing Bingo card?

🌱 Show compassion by offering kindness, listening without judgment, or acknowledging someone’s struggles with empathy.

📚 Self-educate by learning about mental health conditions from reliable sources and sharing accurate information when misconceptions arise.

💬 Challenge stereotypes when you hear harmful assumptions, and help create more understanding through respectful conversation.

🗣️ Use conscientious language by avoiding labels, jokes, or phrases that minimize mental health experiences.

⚖️ Encourage equality by treating mental health care with the same importance as physical health care.

🤝 Share resources with friends, family members, coworkers, or community members who may benefit from support.

✨ Empower, don’t shame by reminding others and yourself that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

🌼 Practice self-care through rest, healthy boundaries, meaningful connection, or activities that support your well-being.

Which bingo square comes most naturally to you, and which one would you like to focus on this month? We’d love to hear your thoughts below. 💚

✨ Meet the newest member of our Roberts Counseling team: Tanja Babel!

Beginning in June, Tanja will be accepting new clients ages 18 and up. Her path into counseling has been shaped by deeply human work, including a three-year internship supporting individuals navigating oncology and grief. Through those experiences, she developed a profound respect for the resilience people carry, even during life’s most difficult and uncertain seasons.

Clients often find Tanja to be warm, steady, authentic, and deeply attuned. The grounding presence she brings into the therapy room isn’t a professional persona — it’s simply who she is. Creating a space where people feel heard, validated, and safe enough to explore vulnerable topics sits at the heart of her work.

One of Tanja’s favorite ways to describe therapy is this: “I am the lantern holder, but you are the one choosing the path.” Rather than seeing herself as the expert on someone else’s life, she walks alongside her clients with curiosity, compassion, and respect, illuminating the way while honoring their autonomy and courage.

Growth rarely follows a straight line. Sometimes it twists, turns, pauses, and surprises us. Having the right support can make all the difference along the journey.

Please join us in giving Tanja a warm welcome! If you’re interesting in scheduling with her, contact us today for more information. 💙

Ever notice how a sugar crash can turn a decent afternoon into pure chaos? 😅 Food affects far more than hunger. Nutrients help support the production of serotonin and dopamine: the chemicals connected to mood, focus, and emotional balance.

Rather than overhauling your entire kitchen, consider starting here:

• Add one colorful fruit or vegetable to your plate each day

• Stock up on frozen produce to save money and reduce waste

• Snack on nuts, seeds, or dark chocolate in moderation for magnesium and antioxidants

• Stay hydrated and avoid skipping meals when possible

Meanwhile, giving yourself grace matters too. Some days survival meals are still meals, and that’s okay.

Mental health care can include therapy, sleep, boundaries… and yes, sometimes a side of roasted veggies beside the mac and cheese. 🥦🫶

Drop your favorite low-cost healthy snack below, we’d love new ideas!
