Breath Space is getting seriously close to finished. 🌙

We’ve now optimized the app for 5 different screen experiences:

📱 iPhone 17 Pro Max
📱 iPhone Duo — inner display
📱 iPhone Duo — outer display
💻 iPad Pro 12.9-inch
💻 iPad mini 8.3-inch

We’ve also built and optimized the entire transition experience between the inner and outer Duo displays.

Each screen has gone through dedicated development, responsive layout work, animation refinement, regression testing, lint cleanup, and final polish.

At this point, we’re not just trying to make Breath Space “work” on different devices — we’re trying to make it feel like it was actually designed for each one.

A LOT of work has gone into this little app. ❤️

One thing people don’t talk about enough with herbs:

They can smell completely different depending on freshness, storage, processing, and where they came from.

Some herbs are mild and almost grassy.

Some are earthy.

Some smell sweet.

And some smell so strong you open the bag and immediately regret every decision that led you there 😂

At this point, I can pretty much recognize every herb in our entire catalog just by smell.

I’ve handled them enough that most of them are instantly recognizable to me before I ever look at the label.

That’s actually one of the reasons I find raw herbs so interesting. Two batches of the “same” herb can look, smell, and even taste noticeably different.

If you use herbs regularly, what’s one you can recognize instantly just by the smell?

Some herbs taste like they’re personally offended you put them in your mouth.

That sharp, lingering bitterness? Plants didn’t develop it with our taste buds in mind.

Plants produce a wide range of natural compounds, and some bitter compounds help discourage animals from eating them. Basically, the plant’s version of “please stop chewing on me.”

Here’s the interesting part: “bitter” isn’t one ingredient. Different plants can taste bitter because of different compounds. Sharing a flavor doesn’t mean they have the same properties or uses.

And despite the old “if it tastes terrible, it must be good for you” idea, your face scrunching up isn’t a measure of quality or effectiveness. 😂

We appreciate herbs here at Kimball Botanicals, but we’re not going to pretend every one belongs in a delicious cup of tea.

What’s the nastiest herb you’ve ever tasted—and did you try it a second time? 👇

I wanted to give everyone a real update because I know some of you have been waiting longer than usual for your orders.

We’re behind right now, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. We’re working hard every day to catch up, pack orders, and get as much out the door as we possibly can.

If you’re waiting on something from us, please know your order has not been forgotten. We’re going through everything one order at a time and trying to move as quickly as we can without getting careless.

I know delays are frustrating, and I really do appreciate the patience so many of you have shown us. We’re a small business, and when things pile up, it can take some time to dig back out, but we are absolutely working on it.

Thank you for sticking with us and giving us a little grace while we get caught up. It means more than you know. ❤️

Planning our garden has me thinking about what’s happening beneath the soil.

Did you know turmeric “root” is actually a rhizome—an underground stem? Ginger grows this way too. Those little buds on a rhizome can produce new shoots, allowing a piece of the plant to become a whole new plant.

The rhizome also stores energy to support growth. There’s a lot happening underground before we ever see a leaf.

Have you ever tried growing turmeric or ginger?

Ginger and I have been trying to share more of the “why” behind the herbs we work with, not just the products themselves.

Bitter melon is a really interesting one because it has such a long history as both a food and an herb. It also contains naturally occurring compounds like charantin, and there’s a real difference between using whole bitter melon powder and a concentrated extract.

We just posted a new blog breaking that down in simple terms, including why some formulas use both whole herb and extract together.

We enjoy digging into this side of herbalism and sharing what we learn with you all.

We wanted to personally give everyone a quick update.

Ginger and I are working as hard and as fast as we can to get through the backlog. The crazy part is, orders are still coming in almost as fast as we can make, pack, and ship them.

If you’re waiting on an order, please know we have not forgotten about you. We see every order, we know you’re waiting, and we’re steadily working our way through them.

We’re incredibly thankful for the support you all continue to show our little family business. We never take it for granted, and we appreciate your patience more than we can say.

Thank you for sticking with us.

This is what we’re building toward at Kimball Botanicals.

More of the process in-house. More control over quality. More control over materials. More control over how our products are made and packaged from beginning to end.

One thing we’re seriously exploring is adding biodegradable plastic bottles to our in-house manufacturing process.

Glass will still have a place, especially for premium packaging, but biodegradable bottles could give us a lightweight, practical option without relying on traditional plastic.

The long-term vision is bigger than simply filling capsules. We want to build the infrastructure to manufacture, package, and continually improve as much as possible ourselves.

We’re building Kimball Botanicals for the long term.

A little breathing space in a busy day.

I created Breath Space as a simple guided breathing app, with options for box breathing, a bedtime routine, or a pause between tasks.

Choose a breathing pattern, follow the rhythm, and make a little time for yourself.

Building this alongside Kimball Botanicals has been a meaningful project for me.

When would you use it—morning, midday, or before bed?
