From Callao to New York Harbor and now Miami —a historic voyage celebrating friendship, diplomacy and opportunity. 🇺🇸🇵🇪
United HomeCare® President & CEO Carlos L. Martinez and his wife, Gretta, were honored to be among the special guests welcoming the Peruvian Navy Training Ship B.A.P. “Unión” to Maurice A. Ferré Park in Miami, its final U.S. port of call during the ship’s 2026 VIEX Foreign Training Cruise.
The majestic four-masted, steel-hulled Class A barque arrived in Miami following its visit to New York Harbor in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, bringing together government, diplomatic and business leaders for an extraordinary gathering centered on the theme “Peru is Open for Business.”
Carlos and Gretta joined the Honorable U.S. Ambassador to Peru Bernie Navarro, the officers and crew of the B.A.P. “Unión,” public officials, and representatives from some of South Florida’s leading business organizations, including the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, CAMACOL, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, and South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
More than a ceremonial port visit, the occasion celebrated two centuries of friendship between the United States and Peru and the nations’ longstanding commitment to trade, security cooperation, peaceful collaboration and shared democratic values. Since his Senate confirmation on December 18, 2025, Ambassador Navarro has worked to further strengthen ties between the two countries and advance the Administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic partnerships throughout the Western Hemisphere.
During the event on what he called “Peru’s floating embassy,” Ambassador Navarro announced three new trade missions between Miami and Peru.
United HomeCare® is proud to see its leadership represented at gatherings that strengthen the international relationships, civic partnerships and community connections that make South Florida such a dynamic crossroads of the Americas.
