THANK YOU to Boston Public Health Commission for supporting Geiger Gibson Community Health Center, Daniel Driscoll-Neponset Health Center, and other community health centers across the city as we all work to keep exceptional health care available to everyone!

We're awarding $3.3 million to support community health centers across Boston. Community health centers are the front door to care. They are being asked to hold that door open as federal cuts strip health insurance coverage from around 40,000 of our residents.

These cuts will heavily impact residents in Dorchester, Roxbury, Hyde Park, South End, and Mattapan. These are some of the neighborhoods with the greatest health disparities in the city.

Community health centers see all patients regardless of income and insurance status. Many residents will likely go to health centers for care. This will cause health centers to see more patients while receiving less payments for services.

For more than 60 years, community health centers like Geiger Gibson Community Health Center have been building innovative care where it matters most. It’s National Health Center Week!! This week, the National Association of Community Health Centers and community health centers around the country are celebrating the work our organizations do to make sure everyone can get the healthcare services they need! From serving a handful of communities to now reaching 1 in 7 Americans, community health centers today are in rural, suburban, and urban areas. We serve everyone, regardless of ability to pay or insurance status - all are welcome! ❤

Harbor Health Services, Inc. and the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers recently hosted Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Kiame Mahaniah and a government delegation from Denmark at our Harbor Health PACE Day Center in . The Danish delegation was very interested in learning more about community health centers in the U.S. and the community-based care Harbor’s Elder Service Plan provides to elders with complex health needs.

With National Community Health Center Week just a few weeks away on August 2-8, we were excited for the opportunity to highlight the programs and services community health organizations like Harbor Health provide to all ages and our collective work to build innovative care where it matters most!

The Harbor Point Community Health & Wellness Fair & BBQ 🍔🌭 is Thursday, July 30, 5:00pm -7:00pm, at The Quadrant at Harbor Point on the Bay!! Harbor Health’s Geiger Gibson Community Health Center and Harbor Health PACE , the Harbor Point Task Force, and the Harbor Point Tigers’ Quad are sponsoring this free and fun event that’s open to the public. Activities include exercise demos, music, and food. Stop by tables hosted by Beacon of Light and Resilience, Boston Parks and Recreation Department Summer Fitness Series, Dorchester South/South Boston WIC Program, IMPACT Melanoma, Neighborhood Food Action Collaborative, and United Healthcare for information and giveaways.
