Today is one of the hardest days in ABA Associates' history.
After months of careful evaluation and exhausting every reasonable option available to us, we have made the heartbreaking decision to close our Greenville clinic, effective August 1, 2026. With this change, ABA Associates will transition from 13 clinic locations to 12.
This decision was not made because the need for services has decreased. In fact, the need for ethical, medically necessary ABA services has never been greater. It was made because the financial reality of operating a clinic in Greenville under the current **Alabama Medicaid reimbursement rates** has become unsustainable.
Since Alabama Medicaid implemented coverage for ABA services in January 2018, **Alabama Medicaid reimbursement rates** have remained unchanged. During that same period, the cost of providing high-quality, ethical clinical care has continued to rise—from employee wages and benefits to rent, insurance, transportation, regulatory compliance, and every other expense associated with delivering medically necessary treatment.
As providers, we have a responsibility to deliver care ethically and responsibly. We will never compromise the quality or integrity of the services we provide simply to keep a clinic open.
Throughout this year, our company President and Vice-President have met with legislators, healthcare leaders, and Alabama Medicaid leadership, including two meetings with Commissioner Offord to advocate for meaningful reform of **Alabama Medicaid reimbursement rates**. Those efforts will continue. We remain committed to working with state leaders to find sustainable solutions that protect access to care for Alabama's children.
Whether the lack of progress stems from the financial impact of alleged fraud committed by some providers across our state, other systemic challenges, or factors beyond our understanding, one thing is certain: ethical providers and the families they serve should not bear the consequences. We remain hopeful that meaningful change is possible, and we will continue advocating until it happens.
Serving children and families in the most rural parts of South Alabama has always been at the heart of who we are. That mission has not changed. What has changed is our ability to sustain a physical clinic in Greenville under the current **Alabama Medicaid reimbursement structure**.
Our immediate focus is on the families and employees affected by this transition. We are working tirelessly to ensure continuity of care by exploring every available option, including transferring clients to neighboring clinics and expanding in-home services where clinically appropriate and staffing allows. Our goal is to minimize disruption and continue serving every child we possibly can.
To our Greenville families: thank you for trusting us with your children.
To our Greenville team: thank you for your compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the children you have served. We are incredibly proud of you, and we are committed to retaining as many of you as possible within ABA Associates.
This is not the ending we wanted for Greenville, and it is our sincere hope that it is not permanent. We pray that one day **Alabama Medicaid reimbursement rates** will reflect the true cost of providing ethical, high-quality ABA services, allowing us to once again serve the Greenville community in a clinical setting.
Until then, our mission remains unchanged. We will continue fighting for Alabama's children, their families, and the future of ethical ABA across our state.
