Jayden was born at 26 weeks and shortly after being born was diagnosed with bronchopulmonary dysplasia. He has been in and out of the hospital since being discharged from the NICU, where he spent roughly four months. On July 26th, Jayden stopped breathing, and I went into complete panic mode. Thankfully, the 911 dispatcher was able to calm my husband down enough for him to perform CPR until the paramedics arrived. Jayden was transported to Southeast Health Hospital, where he was immediately placed on a ventilator. We were told he would be transported to Children’s Hospital of Birmingham, AL. The doctors explained that Jayden had rhinovirus and aspiration pneumonia. After multiple failed attempts to remove him from the ventilator, they performed a procedure where a camera was put down his throat to determine what was causing the problem, and doctors discovered that his lungs were collapsing. With no other option, Jayden will undergo trach surgery. We have currently been in the hospital for almost three weeks, and as most of you know, this leaves us with a lot of things to figure out. Drs estimate we will be in the hospital for roughly 2months after surgery. With seven other kids back home and bills steadily coming in, it has put us in a very difficult situation. Any help, whether it’s financial support, sharing this post, or simply praying for our family, is greatly appreciated.
