In December we completed our third cohort of 5 families coming through Aleli. What made this cohort particularly meaningful was our dedicated parent sessions, where we openly shared what was going well and challenges - learning from each other's experiences. Through activities specially designed by my wife Elisa (who was a preschool teacher for many years) like pumpkin hammering, block play, and clay exploration, Aleli helped to build skills in self-regulation, motor development, and socialization. We really are trying to build a community where both parents and children can thrive together, and I'm muy grateful to have shared this journey with these families.

Our next cohort begins soon! Sign up now at Aleli.com

Aleli is firmly rooted in attachment theory, which brings alive the idea that we grow, learn, and experience the joyousness of life by being connected to others. The stronger the quality of that connection, the more we are able to flourish. Aleli brings this concept of connection outside of the early childhood space to recognize that adults also flourish through quality connections. The flame that exists inside of each of us burns brighter when joined with the flames of others.

Yet with the growth and progress of technology, aspects of connection have also been lost and the quality of our connections have become more separated. Cell phones have created walls between humans in public, but have also separated family members within their same walls.

As parenting has become increasingly more isolated, Aleli works to bring people together and burst this illusion of separation and isolation. Join us and become part of this beautiful community! 💛

Aleli has sessions in both English and Spanish. It is always my priority to make sure the parents feel safe, supported, and excited to come to the sessions. When parents offer feedback, we take it to heart. 💛 Hear from our amazing families about how Aleli has made a difference in their parenting experience. ✨

It's incredible to have my grandfather meet my baby girl, 3 months old. He is 101 years old.

I remember, before I even met Elisa, that it was important for me that he meet my child, that he knows our family grows on. As I got older, I started to get worried that it wouldn’t happen. Then I met Elisa. And everything went from there.

These photos show our first visits together - Ria and the OId Man. For a long time, he just sat silently watching her. I don’t know what he’s thinking, but he seems happy, content. And for me, that is enough.

Our third cohort of parents and kids started in October 2024. For some of the parents, this is their first kid. For some, it's their fifth! It doesn't matter your age, how many kids you have, what language you speak, how old your kid is - you will find meaning and benefit at Aleli. Some parents join because they want to work on building their speech, some because they want to stop hitting, others because they want to build a healthy brain-building environment in their house, and some because they want to improve their child's sleep. Whatever it is, we welcome you with open arms at Aleli. Join us for our next session and be part of the journey! 💛

Do you ever notice that you'll be having a conversation while holding your infant or toddler in your arms, and then you look down and notice how your child is just staring at you while you are talking? Why do they stare at you? Becuase they are studying you. They are studying your face. How you move your eyebrows, how your voice changes throughout the sentence. Because what you do is what they learn to do. When you look down at them and talk, they copy you by moving their mouth and sound comes out. When you look down and smile, they copy you and smile back.

This sensitive period of brain development is deeply shaped by interactions with parents and caregivers. Everything from how we talk, play, and respond to our children helps shape these connections, building the foundation for their lifelong learning, behavior, and well-being.

At Aleli, we empower parents to embrace this critical time with knowledge, tools, and support. We create play dates for parents and children, offering a safe, supportive space to practice new skills, make mistakes, ask questions, and try again. Join us in this journey to support your child’s amazing development. ✨

Thank you to the parents who shared their feedback and reflections after completing our 6-week Aleli program.

Aleli offers parents a supportive space to learn, grow, and connect. It’s where parents discover how to nurture their child’s brain development, navigate big emotions, and strengthen bonds; all while building their confidence in a safe and welcoming environment.

At Aleli, parents don’t just learn; they practice, share, and connect with others who are on the same journey. Together, we create moments that matter for both parents and children.

When children show difficult and overwhelming behaviors, they are reflecting the difficult and overwhelming emotions happening within themselves. We can help our children by being that safe secure place for them to learn to hold these emotions with behaviors that become safer and safer with time. How we speak and act with our children becomes their inner voice.

As parents, it’s easy to focus so much on our children’s needs that we forget our own—but here’s the truth: the way we care for ourselves teaches our children how to care for others.

When we prioritize emotional balance and set healthy boundaries, we show our kids that relationships are about mutual respect and understanding. It’s not selfish; it’s modeling. Children thrive when they see parents who honor their needs and their own well-being. 🌿

Parenting isn’t about perfection; it’s about intention. Take a moment today to check in with yourself. What’s one thing you can do to nurture your well-being? Your growth is part of their foundation. ✨

From my experience as a father and pediatrician, I see how the strongest connections are made through trial and error. That trying something, screwing it up, apologizing, and trying again is an incredibly strong way to create a strong bond with your child.

Parenting isn’t about being perfect; it’s about connection, growth, and showing up for the moments that matter most. ✨ At Aleli, we create a space where parents and children can learn, bond, and thrive together.

Whether it’s understanding your child’s brain, navigating big emotions, or building lifelong attachment, you don’t have to do it alone. 💛 If you’re a parent in the Douglas area, now is the time to join our community. New Aleli Groups start this January—don’t miss out!
