Mental health is important at every stage of life.

As we age, life changes such as retirement, health concerns, the loss of loved ones, or increased isolation can affect emotional well-being. Yet mental health challenges in older adults are often overlooked or mistaken for a normal part of aging.

The truth is that feeling connected, supported, and emotionally healthy is just as important in our later years as it is at any other age.

Our latest blog explores the importance of mental health for seniors, common warning signs to watch for, and ways older adults can support their emotional well-being:

We know choosing the right senior care community for yourself or a loved one can be emotional and difficult. Here are a few things to look for when start the search…

🏠 Tour multiple times - Visit during different hours and days to see daily routines and staff interactions.
👩‍⚕️ Staff-to-resident ratio - Ask about staffing levels, especially overnight and weekends.
🍽️ Dining experience - Check meal quality, dining atmosphere, and accommodation for dietary needs.
🏥 Healthcare services - Understand what medical care is provided on-site vs. coordinated externally.
💰 Transparent pricing - Get clear breakdown of costs, what's included, and potential additional fees.
🛡️ Safety measures - Look for secure entrances, emergency protocols, and fall prevention features.
🎨 Activities and engagement - Observe whether residents seem active and socially connected.
📋 Licensing and reviews - Check state inspection reports and online reviews from families.

Trust your instincts during visits - does the environment feel warm and welcoming? Do residents seem content? These gut feelings matter just as much as the checklist items.

💐 Happy Gorgeous Grandma Day! 💐

Today, we celebrate the incredible grandmothers who fill our lives with wisdom, strength, kindness, and love. Grandmas are often the keepers of family traditions, the best storytellers, and the first to offer a comforting hug when we need it most.

At Lakeside Senior Care we are honored to know so many remarkable women whose lives, experiences, and love have shaped generations (some are pictured in today’s post). Today is a wonderful reminder that beauty grows with grace, confidence, and a life well lived.

Join us in celebrating the gorgeous grandmothers in your life! Share a favorite memory or photo in the comments below. ❤️

We have had the privilege of serving our community by helping our local food bank pack boxes of food for families in need. We also attached prayer cards to candy for children, hoping to share not only a sweet treat but also a little encouragement and God’s love.

One of the biggest decisions many families face is whether a loved one should continue aging at home or consider assisted living.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. While aging in place offers familiarity and independence, it can also come with challenges related to safety, socialization, transportation, and daily care. Assisted living may provide support and peace of mind, but making the transition can feel overwhelming.
The most important thing is understanding the options and choosing the path that best supports a senior’s health, happiness, and quality of life.

Our latest blog takes an honest look at the factors families should consider when weighing aging in place versus assisted living:

Each month, we venture to a new country to expand our knowledge, and America is our focus this month. Happy 250th Birthday to the United States !!!! We started it off with a documentary showcasing our beautiful country. Ate an American lunch , fried chicken , macaroni and cheese , green beans , yeast roll and for dessert we had apple pie. The afternoon was so fun with Georgia Hospice Care providing us with an ice cream bar. The ice cream was placed on top of crumbled waffle cones and we had our chose of sprinkles, hot fudge , strawberries ,Carmel or M&Ms. A huge thank to Ashley and Kimberly for providing the ice cream bar for us. We also had some special guest come and serve the ice cream and sit down and talk with the residents. A big shout out to Connect Camp for coming and sharing their love and helping hands with us . We ended the day with an all American happy hour.
