If you’ve got a performance horse, you already know…

They ask a LOT from their bodies. 🐎

Quick turns.
Hard stops.
Acceleration.
Collection.
Repetition.
Travel.
Competition.

I’ve spent years around horses and competing myself, so I understand how much we ask of these athletes — and how easy it can be to focus on performance and forget about what’s happening underneath the saddle.

Bodywork isn’t about making a horse “better behaved.”

It’s about giving their body some attention, too.

Your horse works hard for you.

They deserve to feel good doing it. 🤎

“He’s just being difficult.”

Maybe.

But sometimes what looks like an attitude problem is your horse communicating that something doesn’t feel right.

Pinning ears.
Moving away from touch.
Resistance during grooming.
Not wanting to pick up a foot.
Suddenly being cranky when saddling.
A change in how they move or perform.

It doesn’t automatically mean they’re in pain — but it does mean they’re communicating something.

Our horses can’t tell us, “My back feels tight today.”

They have to show us.

Learning to notice those little changes is one of the most important things we can do for them. 🐴🤎

🐴 Why Dunn Right?

I’ve spent most of my life around horses, from riding and competing to working around them and learning how they move, react, and communicate.

That’s a huge part of why I love equine massage.

Every horse is different. Every body is different. And every session is approached with that individual horse in mind.

Whether you’ve got a barrel horse, trail horse, ranch horse, retired buddy, or anything in between — my goal is simple:

Help your horse feel their best so they can keep doing what they love. 🤎

🐴 Your horse might be talking… are you listening?

Horses are pretty good at telling us when something doesn’t feel quite right — we just have to know what to look for.

Things like:
• Girthiness or sensitivity when being saddled
• Difficulty picking up a lead
• Resistance to certain movements
• Changes in posture or way of going
• Tightness through the back, neck, or hindquarters
• Being unusually reactive to touch

Sometimes these little changes are simply your horse saying, “Hey… something feels off.” 👀

Equine massage can be a great addition to your horse’s overall wellness routine by helping support relaxation, mobility, and healthy muscle function.

And of course, massage doesn’t replace veterinary care when something is painful or medically concerning.

Your horse doesn’t have to be falling apart before they deserve a little maintenance. 😉

Horse owner math: 🤠

“I’m just going to the barn for a little bit.”

3 hours later…

Horse has been groomed.
Tack has been reorganized.
Every saddle pad has been touched.
You’ve had a full conversation with your horse.
You bought something you absolutely did not need.
And somehow you’re still not ready to leave. 😂

Because honestly… there are worse ways to spend an afternoon.

🐴❤️ Barn time is good for the soul.

What’s your horse-owner “I’ll only be here for 20 minutes” activity that somehow turns into half the day? 😂👇

🐎 HORSE PEOPLE — YOU KNOW YOUR HORSE BEST.

What’s one little thing your horse does that immediately tells you something is off?

Maybe they:
• Pin their ears when being saddled
• Suddenly don’t want to pick up a certain lead
• Feel tighter on one side
• Get grumpy about grooming
• Seem less willing to move forward
• Just seem… different

Sometimes the little changes are worth paying attention to.

👇 Tell me one thing your horse does that you’ve learned to recognize as their “something isn’t right” signal.

I’ll go first: the attitude change. 😂
