Our primary focus is to empower individuals of all ages, improve self-esteem, promote a positive sense of self-worth, support development, enhance wellness, inspire creative self-expression a

nd connect with the community through music, art, movement, storytelling, and play. In our logo, and many of our public company materials, you will notice a dragonfly. The dragonfly is delicate, yet incredibly powerful and has the ability to adapt and transform. We believe that each of our clients has a unique dragonfly power within themselves. In our culture, the dragonfly represents grace, power and change in the perspective of self realization and we hope this symbolism invigorates you. OUR MISSION & PHILOSOPHY

As a culturally-centered practice, it is our mission to holistically support each individual by providing creative arts therapies through a culturally & contextually-aware lens. We value the arts and their natural place in healthcare. We strive to empower individuals of all ages through creative self-expression and promote the development of healthy relationships. We are devoted to our clients, our community and our own. We are family members ourselves, and employment with The Sonatina Center means being part of a family unit. In addition to helping our client families grow and develop, The Sonatina Center is devoted to the growth and development of each provider. Whether an employee, intern, or volunteer, continuing education and research-based practice lay the foundation for our work. We are committed to the growth of our profession and actively advocate for the creative arts therapies in health care. As a practice, we strive to design and implement effective therapeutic techniques that meet the client where they are, and co-create goals with clients for where they wish to go. Our goal is to act in the best interests of the individuals being served, under all circumstances, giving unconditional acceptance to clients in a safe, supportive and comfortable environment. We believe that each individual has a unique set of strengths, and we use these strengths to co-create individualized goals for therapy leading to positive experiences and growth. Exploring the cultural context of each individual’s lived experience and personhood is an indispensable part of therapy. We are committed to advocating for social justice and work hard to ensure that we do not silently condone the actions of others through our own inactions. We are committed to having tough conversations openly, honestly and without judgement. Each member of the team actively practices reflexivity and is committed to the ongoing improvement of our own multi-cultural competencies as helping professionals, taking actions that actively support the Black community, minoritized communities and antiracist work. We are committed to continually educating the public on the applications and outcomes of creative arts therapy and promoting the proven therapeutic value of professionally administered music and art therapy services from an educationally qualified and clinically trained therapist. We strive to maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity, keep current on research, trends, repertoire, and techniques. OUR STORY

We are a team of music and art therapists offering unique creative arts therapies and creative arts enrichment classes for children and adults throughout our community. The Sonatina Center was founded by Marissa Scott in 2011, originally under the name, Sonatina Music Therapy. We saw our first clients in their homes, schools, and medical centers. As we have grown we have moved into a beautiful space in Dover, NH. Our newly expanded center houses six individual therapy rooms, two medium size therapy rooms perfect for intimate size groups and workshops, and an art room! Our accessible facility also houses a large waiting room, two private restrooms, a changing table, and plenty of on-site parking. We partner with many organizations in the community to bring music and art therapy to schools, hospitals, community centers and assisted living facilities.

We are very excited about Aidan's Place in our community. Please check out their page and the website is coming soon!

Hello family, friends, neighbors, colleagues and community! I am in the process of establishing a residential supportive living home that will offer community participation services and supported employment opportunities for my son, Aidan, and other adults with autism and developmental disabilities here in Dover, NH. I anticipate that the home will be able to accept its first residents towards the end of 2026/beginning of 2027. The website is www.aidansplace.com and should be live by the end of this weekend.

Here is some information about Aidan's Place from the website, which is also known as The Aidan C. Mott Supportive Living Home, LLC:

"Aidan's Place was inspired by my adult son, who is autistic and nonverbal. As he entered adulthood, my family experienced firsthand the challenge of finding local supportive housing and community participation services that promote independence, dignity, community, and long-term security. Like many families, I wanted more than a safe place to live for Aidan—I wanted a place where people can build meaningful lives, develop their strengths, and be part of a caring community.

That experience inspired me to create a residential supportive living home offering enriching community participation services in our town of Dover designed to provide individualized support while respecting each resident's goals, choices, and unique abilities. My hope is to help create opportunities not only for my family but for many others navigating similar challenges.

My son has taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of seeing each person for who they are rather than defining them by a diagnosis or the challenges they face. His journey continues to inspire me and shape my vision for a home where every resident is valued, respected, and empowered to live as independently as possible."

Aidan's Place will provide 24/7 supportive care for 9-10 individuals who will all have their own beautiful bedrooms and will share very large communal areas including a living room, dining room, kitchen, porch, patio and multiple bathrooms in a 6,400 sf grand Victorian located off of Silver Street. Medicaid and SSI will be accepted as payment to fund the room and board, and daily services.

Please share with any families and individuals you think may be interested. Career positions are also located on the website. Until the website goes live, I can be reached through instant messenger.

Thank you!

The right song can unlock something that nothing else can. 🎵

This month on the blog, our intern shares the repertoire she built during her time working with older adults in memory care — and the thinking behind each choice.

If you work in memory care, or you're just curious what music therapy actually looks like in that setting, this one's worth a read.
