I keep telling myself... Jessica, you don't have time for a book club.
As much as we want to keep learning and growing, life gets busy. Well... good thing my name isn't Jessica. 😄
Over the past five months, Reach's Leadership Team has been reading Calling In by Loretta Ross together, and it reminded us that learning doesn't have to happen all at once. It happens through conversation, curiosity, and a willingness to grow.
A few of our biggest takeaways:
💙 Lead with curiosity before judgment.
💙 Call people in instead of calling them out, creating opportunities for learning rather than shame.
💙 Assume good intentions while still holding space for accountability.
💙 Listen to understand experiences different from your own.
💙 Build relationships rooted in respect, empathy, and belonging.
At Reach, these ideas aren't just for book discussions, they shape how we support children and families from diverse backgrounds, how we care for one another as teammates, and how we show up in our community. Every family deserves to feel welcomed, heard, respected, and valued, and every interaction is an opportunity to build connection.
Books have a way of challenging us, stretching us, and reminding us that we never stop learning. We're grateful for a leadership team that's committed to growing together, one chapter, one conversation, and one step at a time.
📖 Have you read a book recently that changed the way you think? We'd love to hear your recommendations in the comments!
