Downey Fire Department is aware of two hazardous materials incidents that are ongoing in our region, neither of which are impacting the City of Downey.

In East Los Angeles, a reported pipeline leak has caused oil to spill onto streets in that area and into the Los Angeles River. This incident is being actively managed by resources from Los Angeles County.

The ongoing incident in Garden Grove that has caused evacuations of Orange County cities is being managed by the Orange County Fire Authority and supporting agencies.

At this time, neither of these incident presents a hazard to the City of Downey. They are being closely monitored by regional emergency response, environmental, and air quality agencies. There are no public safety advisories affecting the City of Downey.

Working closely with the City of Downey, Downey Fire Department will continue to monitor both incidents and share additional information if conditions change.
