As we head into the final weeks of summer, pools, lakes, and beach days are still in full swing — and water safety remains just as important.

A recent guide from health experts shares 10 practical rules that can help keep kids safe in the water:

• Constant, focused adult supervision (phones down)
• Never leave a child alone in or near water — even for a second
• Armbands and floaties are not life jackets
• Choose supervised, calm swimming areas
• Secure pool access with fencing and self-closing gates
• Swimming skills help, but they don’t replace supervision
• Be careful with diving in unfamiliar water
• Give kids time after a big meal before swimming
• Know basic CPR
• Call for help immediately in an emergency

Drowning can happen quickly and quietly. The most important safety tool is still a responsible adult’s full attention.

If your child has a water-related injury or you’re concerned after an incident, AFC Urgent Care is here for non-emergency evaluation and care.

💪 A protein‑rich breakfast helps stabilize appetite, supports muscle health, and keeps you focused through busy mornings — whether you’re heading to work, school, or getting errands done.

🦠 Foodborne illnesses are rising nationwide, and several foods are linked to recent outbreaks of salmonella, E. coli, and cyclosporiasis.
🥬 Iceberg lettuce has been tied to a multistate parasite outbreak, even after recalls. Washing helps, but it can’t fully remove cyclospora.
🫐 Frozen blueberries and mixed berries have been recalled due to E. coli contamination in multiple states.
🤢 Symptoms can include severe diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, and dehydration — especially dangerous for children, older adults, and anyone with underlying conditions.
🚫 If you have any of these recalled products at home, throw them away immediately.
