Thursday Mentorship Meeting Recap:

🧠 Pain isn’t always about tissue damage. Sometimes it’s about how the brain interprets threat.

One fascinating area of modern pain science is laterality training (right/left recognition).

Research has shown that in some persistent pain conditions, the brain’s “map” of the body can become less accurate. This can contribute to ongoing pain, sensitivity, and altered movement patterns.

A simple way to begin retraining these brain maps is through right and left recognition exercises.

📱 The app, Orientate, allows you to practice identifying right and left body parts by viewing images and making quick decisions. Sounds simple—but it challenges areas of the brain involved in movement planning, body awareness, and pain processing.

Why does this matter?
✅ Improves body awareness
✅ Activates motor networks without movement
✅ Can help “sharpen” the brain’s representation of the body
✅ Often used as part of a broader pain management strategy

Try this:
➡️ Download the app
➡️ Choose the body region you’re working on
➡️ Spend 2–5 minutes identifying right vs. left images
➡️ Focus on accuracy before speed

Remember: Pain is produced by the nervous system, and the nervous system is adaptable. Sometimes changing pain starts with changing the brain.

Have you ever tried right/left recognition training? Let us know how you did in the comments.

⛳️ Don’t skip the warm-up before your next round!

A proper golf warm-up helps improve performance, increase mobility, and reduce the risk of injury. Instead of heading straight to the first tee, spend 5-10 minutes preparing your body for the demands of the swing.

✅ Start with dynamic movements

✅ Activate key golf muscles

✅ Progress into golf-specific movements:
• Slow practice swings
• Half swings
• Gradually build to full-speed swings

The goal isn’t to stretch and hold positions—it’s to get your body moving, increase blood flow, and prepare for powerful, efficient swings.

A better warm-up = better mobility, more consistency, and more enjoyable golf.

Core strength doesn’t come from staying comfortable. 💥

Your body only adapts when it’s challenged. If the exercise feels easy forever, your body has no reason to change. Progress happens when you gradually increase the difficulty, control, and demand on your core.

Train with intention. Challenge your stability. Build a stronger foundation. 🔥

🔥 The CrossFit Open is almost here… are you moving your best?

Don’t wait until something hurts to book an appointment.

Seeing a physical therapist who specializes in manual therapy, joint work, and dry needling can help:

✅ Reduce stiffness
✅ Improve mobility
✅ Decrease muscle tension
✅ Restore clean movement patterns
✅ Improve power output & recovery

A small restriction in your shoulder, hip, or spine might not feel like an injury — but it can limit performance when the intensity ramps up.

Think of it as a tune-up, not a repair.

Come in before the Open starts, move better, recover faster, and perform at your highest level. 💪
