Today is Apraxia Awareness Day💙

As a pediatric speech-language pathologist, I have the privilege of working with some of the most determined, hardworking children and families navigating Childhood Apraxia of Speech every day.

Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for a child’s brain to plan and coordinate the movements needed for speech. These children know what they want to say but getting the words out can feel incredibly frustrating and challenging.

Today we celebrate every sound attempted, every word spoken, every AAC button pressed, every milestone reached, and every child finding their voice in their own way. 💙

To the families walking this journey: your advocacy, patience, and dedication matter more than you know.

To my apraxia kids: I see your hard work, your resilience, and your progress and I am so proud of you.

Let’s continue spreading awareness, supporting families, and helping every child communicate confidently. 💙

So grateful for the opportunity to deepen my knowledge in childhood apraxia of speech at the Advanced CAS course this week. It was incredibly inspiring to learn alongside so many passionate SLPs who are dedicated to improving outcomes for children with CAS. Collaboration, research, and shared clinical experiences like this push our field forward and ultimately help the children and families we serve.

A huge thank you to Dr. Grigos, the once upon a time foundation , , and for making this experience possible and for the work you do to advance understanding and treatment of childhood apraxia of speech.

Feeling inspired and excited to bring new knowledge back to my therapy sessions. 💬✨
