It’s important to understand what we actually mean by egg quality.
The truth is, egg quality isn’t something we can measure with a simple blood test.
When healthcare providers talk about egg quality, they’re really talking about whether an egg has the ability to mature properly, be fertilized, develop into a healthy embryo with the correct number of chromosomes, implant successfully, and ultimately result in a healthy pregnancy.
That’s a lot for one tiny cell to accomplish.
Many different factors influence this process, including age, genetics, overall health, hormone balance, inflammation, metabolic health, and the environment the egg develops in during the months leading up to ovulation.
The encouraging news is that while we can’t change our age or genetics, we can support the environment in which our eggs develop. And we can also shift that environment with acupuncture. Acupuncture has been shown to improve blood flow to the reproductive organs and improve live birth outcomes. I have helped so many people through recurrent loss and miscarriage. Honestly, I love offering this kind of support.
