Patients often ask for teeth whitening but don’t always have the availability to come into the office for in-office whitening sessions. So, we also offer convenient at-home whitening options.

You can use an old aligner tray from a recently completed week, or we can make custom bleaching trays for you right here in the office.

Simply place a tiny dollop of whitening gel on the inner surface of each tooth in the tray — just a small amount goes a long way.

One helpful tip during the 30-minute whitening process is to gently bite on a washcloth. This helps absorb any extra saliva that may develop while whitening.

When you’re finished, rinse your teeth thoroughly with lukewarm water and clean your trays well before storing them.

A brighter smile can be simple, convenient, and done right from home. Happy smiling! 😁

Lemon water is bad for your teeth because lemons are highly acidic and contain citric acid. When this acid repeatedly touches your teeth, it softens and erodes the enamel (the hard, protective outer layer of your teeth), which can lead to tooth sensitivity, discoloration (exposing the yellow dentin underneath), and an increased risk of cavities.
While you don't have to give up lemon water completely, the dentists at LVK recommend adopting specific habits to protect your smile:
⏰ Drink quickly: Avoid sipping your lemon water slowly over a long period; drink it in one sitting (within 10-15 minutes) to minimize acid exposure
🥤Use a straw: Use a reusable straw to help bypass your front teeth and direct the acidic liquid to the back of your throat.
💦 Rinse with plain water: Always rinse your mouth thoroughly with tap water right after drinking your lemon water to wash away residual acid and restore your mouth's pH balance
🫸 Wait to brush: Enamel is temporarily softened immediately after drinking acidic liquids. Wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before brushing your teeth so you don't physically scrub the softened enamel away.

The "fuzzy" or chalky mouth feel from spinach—often called "spinach teeth"—is caused by oxalic acid. When you chew spinach, the leaves release this acid, which binds with calcium in your saliva. This reaction creates microscopic, insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that coat your teeth and tongue.
👅 The Sensation: Your mouth and teeth feel unusually dry, gritty, chalky, or like a fine film is lingering on your enamel. It is completely harmless and typically fades within an hour or two.
How to Prevent It:
👩‍🍳Cook it: Blanching and rinsing spinach reduces the oxalate content.
🥛Add Dairy: Users on Reddit agree that cooking spinach with calcium-rich foods (like cream, milk, or mozzarella) allows the oxalic acid to bind to the added calcium instead of your saliva, eliminating the chalky feel.
🪥Clean your teeth: Simply brushing your teeth will remove the microscopic crystals.
