In Memory of Dr. Kevin A. Cody

There are people who volunteer for a season, and there are people who quietly become part of the heart and history of an organization. For 19 years, Dr. Kevin A. Cody was part of the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic family.

Kevin generously volunteered with our prescription medication assistance program, helping uninsured neighbors access medications they needed but might otherwise have struggled to afford. Behind every application and every medication was a person whose health, dignity, and well-being mattered to him.

Nineteen years of service cannot simply be counted in volunteer hours. They are measured in people helped, burdens made lighter, medications made accessible, and families who knew someone was willing to stand beside them.

Kevin lived an accomplished life, but we had the privilege of knowing him in a particularly beautiful way: as the man who kept showing up. Year after year, he gave his time, knowledge, kindness, and compassion in service to others.

We are deeply grateful that Kevin chose to give so much of himself to the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic. His presence will be missed, but the good he placed into this community remains.

To Kevin’s family and all who loved him, we extend our deepest condolences.

Thank you, Kevin. You will always be part of the Ann Silverman family.

National Health Center Week | Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic

This National Health Center Week, we celebrate something that has been at the heart of the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic for more than three decades: healthcare works best when a community takes care of its own.

At ASCHC, low-income, uninsured residents of Bucks County can receive medical and dental care, behavioral health services, vision care, prescription assistance, and care coordination—without a bill and without insurance. Our patients range in age from 4 to 97 and come from many cultures, countries, and languages, but they walk through the same doors with the same hope: to be seen, heard, and cared for with dignity.

This year’s National Health Center Week theme, “Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most,” reflects what our clinic has practiced for 32 years. Innovation is not always a new building or expensive technology. Sometimes innovation is removing the barriers that keep someone from seeing a doctor. It is bringing volunteer clinicians, community organizations, donors, and healthcare partners together around one person who needs care.

None of this happens alone. We are deeply grateful for our physicians, dentists, nurses, behavioral health professionals, volunteers, staff, Board of Directors, donors, and community partners—including Penn Medicine Doylestown Health—who help make this extraordinary model of care possible.

At Ann Silverman, we believe access to healthcare is a community responsibility. And when a community comes together, care becomes possible.

Partnerships have the power to transform communities.

The Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic was honored to be invited to the Independence Blue Cross Foundation’s “From Campus to Care Summit: Partnerships that Positively Impact Health.” The summit brought together healthcare leaders, educators, policymakers, nonprofit organizations, and community partners dedicated to advancing innovative solutions that improve health outcomes across Pennsylvania.

The day was filled with meaningful discussions on workforce development, academic partnerships, healthcare innovation, compassionate care, and strengthening Pennsylvania’s healthcare safety net. Every session reinforced the importance of collaboration in addressing today’s healthcare challenges and preparing for the future.

At the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic, partnerships are the foundation of our mission. Through the generosity of volunteers, healthcare professionals, foundations, educational institutions, community organizations, and philanthropic supporters, we are able to provide free medical, dental, behavioral health, vision, prescription assistance, and care coordination services to uninsured, low-income residents of Bucks County.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Independence Blue Cross Foundation for convening this exceptional forum and for investing in organizations that are expanding access to care and strengthening communities. Opportunities like these remind us that when healthcare organizations work together, share knowledge, and invest in one another, the impact extends far beyond any single organization.

Together, we are creating healthier communities, expanding access to care, and building a stronger future for all.

Healthcare changes lives. Access changes communities.

Every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy. Every adult deserves the dignity of receiving care without fear of cost. Every older adult deserves to age with compassion, respect, and hope.

At the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic, we believe healthcare is more than treating illness—it is restoring opportunity, strengthening families, and building a healthier Bucks County for everyone.

Through the generosity of volunteers, donors, and community partners, we provide free medical care, dental care, behavioral health services, vision care, and prescription assistance to eligible uninsured, low-income residents. Every appointment represents more than healthcare—it represents a community choosing to care for one another.

Compassion is at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are proving that when a community comes together, barriers fall, lives are transformed, and hope becomes possible.

Compassionate care. Stronger together.

In Memory of Marvin “Marv” Woodall

The Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic joins the Bucks County community in mourning the passing of Marvin “Marv” Woodall, a visionary leader, generous philanthropist, and steadfast advocate for advancing healthcare throughout our region.

Marv understood that exceptional healthcare is made possible through innovation, compassion, and communities that invest in one another. His extraordinary leadership and generosity helped transform healthcare in Bucks County, creating opportunities that will continue to improve and save lives for generations to come.

While many will remember Marv for his remarkable accomplishments in medicine, philanthropy, and community leadership, we will remember him most for his unwavering belief that every individual deserves access to high quality, compassionate healthcare. His vision strengthened institutions, inspired healthcare professionals, and left an enduring mark on the organizations privileged to serve this community.

His legacy lives on in every patient who receives better care, every healthcare professional inspired by his example, and every life touched by the institutions he helped build and support.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, volunteers, staff, and patients we are honored to serve each year, we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were blessed to know him.

May we honor Marv’s memory by continuing his example of servant leadership, generosity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to building a healthier Bucks County for all.

Because of You, Children Will Walk Into School with Confidence

There is something deeply meaningful about placing a new backpack into the hands of a child. It is more than fabric and school supplies. It is a message that says, “You matter. Your education matters. Your future matters.”

On behalf of everyone at Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic, thank you to every individual, family, business, volunteer, and donor who supported our Backpack Drive. Your generosity will help children begin the school year feeling prepared, confident, and encouraged.

As a community health clinic, we know that health extends beyond the walls of an exam room. A child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive is influenced by having the basic tools they need to succeed. By coming together, our community is investing not only in education but also in hope, dignity, and opportunity.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us care for our neighbors in practical, compassionate ways. Together, we are strengthening families and building a healthier, brighter future for the children of Bucks County.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic Team ❤️

Back-to-School Means More Than New Backpacks. It Means New Beginnings. 🎒❤️

At the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic, we know that a backpack is more than a place to carry books.

For many children, it represents confidence on the first day of school, a sense of belonging in the classroom, and the excitement of learning alongside their friends.

As families across Bucks County prepare for a new school year, we are reminded that good health and education go hand in hand. Children learn best when they have access to healthcare, dental care, vision services, behavioral health support, nutritious food, and caring adults who believe in them.

Every day, our volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners work together to remove barriers so that children and families can focus on what matters most: building healthy, hopeful futures.

To everyone who has donated school supplies, volunteered your time, supported our mission, or encouraged a family in need, thank you. Your generosity reaches far beyond a backpack. It tells a child, “You matter. We believe in you.”

As a new school year begins, we wish every student a year filled with curiosity, friendship, confidence, and opportunity.

Together, we are building a healthier Bucks County, one child, one family, and one act of kindness at a time.

Empathy is the heartbeat of healthcare.

Leo Tolstoy once wrote, “If you feel pain, you are alive. If you feel other people’s pain, you are a human being.” Those words capture the spirit of compassionate care as powerfully today as they did more than a century ago.

At Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic, we know that every patient who walks through our doors carries more than a medical diagnosis. They may be carrying fear, uncertainty, grief, financial hardship, loneliness, or the weight of not knowing where to turn next.

Our responsibility is not only to treat illness. It is to recognize the human being standing before us.

Empathy changes the way we listen. It changes the questions we ask. It changes the trust we build. Research consistently shows that when patients feel heard and respected, they are more likely to engage in their care, follow treatment plans, and experience better health outcomes.

Every volunteer, clinician, interpreter, board member, and staff member at our clinic has the opportunity to make someone feel seen. Sometimes the most healing words are not medical advice, but a simple reminder:

“I’m here with you.”

Healthcare begins with science, but it is transformed by compassion.

May we never become so busy treating diseases that we forget to care for the people living with them.

Because when empathy leads, healing has a place to begin.
