Nobody thinks of gardening as a health intervention. But maybe they should.
For seniors, the simple act of tending to plants, whether it is a sprawling backyard garden or a single pot on a windowsill, does something quietly powerful. It provides purpose. It demands gentle physical activity. It connects a person to something living and growing outside of themselves.
Research consistently shows that seniors who garden regularly experience lower levels of stress, improved mood, sharper cognitive function, and even better sleep. It is one of those activities that gives back far more than it asks for.
At Humble Home Care Services, we encourage and support the activities that bring joy and meaning to the seniors in our care. Because wellbeing is about so much more than physical health.
