Anyone else’s pup gazing out the window looking for their best human friend this week?

School is now in session and our Chewbarka is having all the feels as he searches for his Rey. 😉

Whatever your feels are about your kids going off to school, excited, nervous, relieved, sad - or maybe all of the above - you’re not alone.

Monday is here again! Here are some tips & tricks to get into the groove!

*Limit your focus. Do 1 task at a time not 7, do not multitask!
*Eliminate distractions: put those noise canceling earphones on and turn off your notifications.
*Fuel your brain! Don't skip meals and don't forget the snacks! Great foods to increase focus include coffee, green tea, eggs, blueberries, nuts and dark chocolate!
*Stay in the moment. This means ignore those texts, better yet - turn the phone on DND.
*Take short breaks. Get outside, walk around the block, move your body!

And for those with ADHD, here are some additional tips:
*Make a daily focus list by choosing a few important tasks you want to complete today.
*Create a brain dump. What's that? Simply keeping a notepad or notebook nearby to jot those random ingenious thoughts and ideas that pop up throughout the day.
*Schedule your breaks. How is this different from simply taking breaks? You are literally planning the times of day where you will get up and move.
*Set a timer for when those breaks should happen and for the length of the breaks too. Time blindness is real.
*Recruit a buddy. Ever heard of body doubling? Find a calm, quiet friend to be near you in proximity or virtually. Their job is to not engage with you and just be present. Another way people do this is opening their office door (if it's quiet out there) or turning on music during tasks.

These won't all work for everyone - try different things, at different times of day even and do what works for you!
What helps you stay focused?

Sleep is crucial. But HOW do we get ourselves to sleep earlier?
Start small, you don't need to attempt to get to bed an hour or two earlier. Let's try for 15-20 minutes. But first, let's form a night time routine.

This can be very simple. After dinner and kids are in bed, maybe you feel the need to clean/do the dishes. Great - get it done. Set a timer on your phone for a realistic time that you want to get ready for bed. Then watch a tv show if you want. When the timer goes off switch away from screens, take a warm bath/shower if that's your thing, get comfy, lay down and read or listen to a book/podcast. If your thoughts won't stop with all you need to do, keep a notebook by your bed and write a bullet point list of the things you want to remember tomorrow.

These are just ideas to get you started - they won't work for everyone but you can tweak things to work for you!

What is preventing you from getting more sleep? What helps you fall asleep?
Good luck & Sweet Dreams!
